Immot's Virus
It is the virus that was accidentally created by Immot, the first Immortuos, and it has been rapidly infecting and decimating clans and territories. Overtime, the virus might evolve. Nobody really knows what will happen to the virus as it continues its rampage throughout the lands.
Subspecies Lore/Information
Immortuos is the name the researchers and scientists have called the slowly decaying beings. An Immortuos is created by a simple bite to any part of an uninfected dragon. Once a dragon has been bitten, it takes around two days for any signs of infection appearing. A dragon will be lethargic, angry and irritable. Eventually, they will attack the first dragon that has any hint of the smell of blood on them. It could be their blood or it could be the blood of an opponent they were fighting. The virus spreads through dens and territories quick and without much of a notice. It takes
one dragon to start the spread of infection. It took one dragon to begin the pandemic afterall.
The first sign of infection is the change of the tertiary gene on dragons. Thylacine is usually the first spotted change of an infected dragon. It is painful, and the dragon will suffer until the virus reaches the brain. After that, the nerve receptors as well as other higher sentient abilities will be removed. All these dragons know is to eat and spread their infection to thrive. Their cognitive ability diminishes rapidly. They are not considered dragons as soon as the appearance of those stripes appear on their hides. Many dragons will
destroy the infected as soon as the appearance change happens. Many dragons who are bitten will take their own lives as well to keep the infection from spreading. The world has changed, and it is not for the better. Many dragons make of the world as best as they can with travelling caravans between safe havens; however, nobody is ever truly safe anymore.
Once an infection takes hold, the Immortuos will travel in packs. They are known to attack in groups of 10+. It takes a lot of skill and patience to fight through an Immortuos pack. The dragons do not know the meaning of holding back, and they do not care that they were wounded. The majority of the Immortuos packs the basic infected. They are fast moving, and they can fly (if the species they once were could fly). But, their only defense is their teeth and claws. They are not capable of using magic nor weapons. The basic Immortuos are not taken down easily.
99% of magic as well as most weapons will not harm these dragons.
Immortuos must have their heart pierced or their head cut off to be defeated.
The other types of Immortuos are rare and few between. But, the majority of packs have at least one of each in their ranks. These types of Immortuos are highly dangerous and unpredictable. They are the types a dragon wish not to see within a battlefield.
Warriors - These Immortuos have the instinctual reflexes that they gained from their training as Warriors before being infected. They can also use their weapons to the best of their abilities. This Immortuos is also smarter than your average bear. They tend to be in charge of protecting the Blood Finders.
Blood Finder - Not
all packs have a Blood Finder. Blood Finders tend to be created from dragons who have a strong will to live and survive. Blood Finders are the hounds of the Immortuos. They will sniff out the smallest of blood before standing on their hindlegs. Their call is a mix of a bark and a painful screech.
Mages - If a dragon was to encounter a mage, their best chance at survival is to probably run. Mages are strong Immortuos with an immense amount of magic to spare. While Immortuos tend to not be able to use magic, those that were connected to their gods as well as the land keep their abilities. They end up being enhanced. Immortuos mages have no remorse nor will they think of their own kind. They will attack anything and everything. (Mages with Primal eyes are the most powerful, and they are definitely ones to avoid if possible.)
Carriers - These dragons can function within a society as they are not true Immortuos themselves. They are carriers. They’re the dragons that do not show signs of being infected, but the infection is within them. They can infect others if they are not careful. So, most societies do not allow them within their borders. They are safe from the Immortuos as well as their bites will not infect them anymore than they already are -- these dragons tend to be guides and lone wolves in the fight against the Immortuos. (They most likely will have the capsule tertiary gene.)
The Immortuos have been known to form bonds. These bonds can be made with any other Immortuos or the Carriers. Immortuos have been known to have nests together (which is a mysterious to dragons to this very day). Nobody knows how the eggs develop or how the hatchlings turn out as no researcher has been able to get close enough to study an egg, let alone take one from the nest of an Immortuos pair. It has been noted that the dragons hatched from these eggs seem to be a bit more calmer yet a lot more savage than their parents. It’s almost as if these hatchlings do have a mind of their own.
