I feel that thylachine is one of those genes that has to fit a particular dragon's personality to work, because there are prettier genes in the market for sure:
Yersinia here is a savage warrior, aggressive and grizzled by years and years of battle:
I feel that the contrast between her white primary and secondary and the maroon ters just adds to this fierce aesthetic I was going for with her.
The same goes for Andarta who is a member of the necromancer subspecies:
Red thylachine is perfect for any primitive looking plague (or any other) dragon.
But then, does it only work for that?
I don't think so.
Here it helps add dimension to an x/x/x dragon by adding extra markings that look rather 'natural', which was perfect for my nature rep Vita:
It can also mute down dark colors made too vibrant by iri/shim so they better fit together:
Thylachine also looks really nice in male spirals and imperials, here are a few random scrying workshop exmples (since I currently own no dragons that fit this bill) to ilustrate:
I have found that spirals can pull off any variant of thylachine while imps work better with darker colored thylachine.
It gives them this sort of 'trickster' look I quite enjoy.
