TL;DR Two-ish year breeding project for two fan-dragons of Ruby Rhod from The Fifth Element results in neat luck.
So my (dead) hatchery has had a Ruby Rhod (from the movie The Fifth Element) theme ever since I made it in 2014 solely based off of his infamous "Super Green!" catchphrase. At the time I thought it fitting since I was one of the only players to sell and breed dragons using only the green range of colors, and this was before the color wheel expansion.
After a few years I decided I needed a dragon mascot for my hatchery, and decided on two Imperials, one for both of Ruby Rhods' iconic outfits: his leopard print onesie and rose-collared opera tuxedo.
To make matters harder for myself, I decided that I wanted them both born on the same day. Of course when I went looking for dragons to begin my breeding project there was nothing close, and I didn't want to spend gems on Glimmer genes so I focused only on gem tert genes, which limited my choices even more. But I was determined and patient.
Well, it took almost two years, but I finally have my two boys! And best of all, not only do they share the same eye type, Unusual, but they are sequential in ID numbers!
They still need their genes, but here they are!

Future genes:
Ruby was the easiest to begin with as I could get close dragons in his range, but I had awful, awful luck getting anything other than XYZs hatchlings. Most of the time I would breed 2 dragons that were one-offs, and still get 100% one-offs. I actually got a few dragons with the right colors over the years, but they never matched up with Rhod or were always female. I had to eventually purge my stock as I had so many pairs trying for the same colors with no luck.
Fun fact: I had two multi-eye dragons born trying for Ruby. It was a waste of luck for them lol.
Ruby's genes and colors are based off of the characters leopard-print onesie that we first see him in, with a Ruby Glimmer belly to reference his namesake.

Future genes:
Rhod had the worst start as there were so few dragons even close to his range. I began with black-range/red-range/yellow-range dragons and had to really hunt for black-range/red-range/blue-range dragons in order to breed down to his colors. By the time I got close his family tree was more or less a family tumbleweed of crisscrossing bloodlines. I had to purge tons of potential stock just because I had so many genetic dead ends. Eventually I gave up my dream of not doling out the gems for Glimmer and bred in some new stock because at that point I had waited so long I had by then managed to save up plenty of gems!
Fun fact: I've managed to send failed hatchlings from Rhods' breeding pairs to help two other users with their breeding projects.
Rhod's genes are based on the characters rose-lined collar and black velour/velvet suit. His Shamrock belly is "super green" like his element.
Once they both grow up I will gene and dress them and revel in my happiness! Thank you for reading their story!
