[center]I know that there are many people on FR who believe that basic genes (especially on a G1) means that they're incomplete, but I feel like Basic can look just as pretty, especially with the right colors. Sometimes genes seem to ruin them too, like with my random progen:

I do like the way their accents/skins complement their colors. If they had genes, I wouldn't be able to give them as much apparel since the colors would probably clash.

For sure! In my case, Ice is a very pretty color with a cool tone in Basic, but it kinda loses that when you try to stick a gene on it.

this girl! she is a gen1 and she will remain completely basic :)
she actually was gened as a spiral with some genes, even filigree, but i removed all of them! the reason is that she is a lore dragon and i was very picky about what replacement gen1 will look like - she’s very simple :)

This girl was originally double Basic (or rather, she was a Skydancer with Vipera and Butterfly, that I removed the genes for) - I recently gave her Noxtide because it blended in perfectly with her accent, but any primary gene would just be too busy!

Both of my progens are basic/basic/basic. Every time a new gene comes out, I preview it on both of them, but so far, nothing has overcome the emotional attachment I have to the way they've always looked.
