My first scatter was my random progen, whose primary went from Sunshine to Gold. It was before the wheel expansion, when those colors were right next to each other.

It was pretty close too. Grey changed into Moss. Even though they aren't too close on the spectrum, they look pretty similar.

That is just unfortunate, I totally understand your pain, scattering is fun but it might take some time before actually getting somewhere.
Luckily the most I have scattered a dragon was five times (with lots of purples in the process) and one scatter was basically the previous colors just flipped over.
I wanted to cry.
I did get some good scatters recently, however, my progen being the most recent one:

This Banescale I originally had a problem with in part due to not liking whatever I tried to scry for them. I am attached because she was hatched from one of the clan bound Banescale Eggs and I didn't want to leave her out while I genes the other dragon.
Against me usually that does not take risks to gamble I scattered her and immediately found a scry I liked way better than her original colors.
