Barren Branches is an Obelisk glitched tree subspecies, to shine light to and have fun with a large glitch while it lasts. While I have breeding pairs for this, it's an open subspecies and anyone with dragons who meet the requirements are eligible to register.

Origin
While no one knows exactly what went down to create such a genetic disease, it's said to have started with a scuffle. While each dragon is from their respected elemental creators, tree dragons stay in their seasons by the Gladeskeeper, making many variants of tree subspecies. But we are not here to talk about blooming or autumn trees, we are here to discuss a curse. It's believed that the Icewarden and Gladeskeeper had an argument, perhaps over tree seasons, so Icewarden brewed his thoughts to get petty revenge.
A curse. A wonderful winter disease. So Icewarden asks for the help of who he knows bests with illnesses, the Plaguebringer. Now, what type tree dragon would be best to curse? Obelisks. Brand new and unimmune to illnesses, they'd be a perfect host. But cursing a whole line of subspecies would cause either Earthshaker or Gladeskeeper to go berserker, so they decide to keep it small. A small, innocent genetic disease. Any male posed Obelisk descent with the genes Shamrock|Alloy will slowly begin to shed their leafy mane as they age, then their wing flaps shredding off along with that. It's extremely itchy and painful, but once finished, they'll look nothing more than bare branches. Now I'm sure you understand the specific gene part of the plague, but why only male Obelisks? Just by nature, some genetic diseases are obtained only by one sex. Take calico cats by example, when males inherit this trait they often die in the womb, or die a few months after birth.
____________________________________________________
What do these Obelisks do now?
Well without their thick, protective foliage they're very susceptible to the cold. If they choose to stay in the forested thick they're forced to stay down on the ground. It's easy camouflage as they look like a pile of sticks and a log but at night, it's not ideal to stay on the dangerous forest floor. If they're lucky there has been stairs or ladders built where they live, if not, some will journey to forested places that do. Those that chose to stay with the trees are seen as very stubborn and persistent, disliking large changes not on their own accord.
Some burrow into the ground, making elaborate tunnels and homes like ants. Often forming packs underground with others, mostly more diseased or females that were lucky not to take the plague themselves. Diggers become some of the kindest but toughest dragons in Sornieth, and are very good at trades, enjoying the occasional time out of their caves for a trip to the markets.
Others face the cold head on and go live in the Icewarden's domain, submitting to their chilly disease. Their winter tree look lets them blend in perfectly and are the most fearless and ruthless of Barren Branches. It's not unusual for them to gain higher power in their clans for their ambitious nature, sometimes getting that power in questionable ways.
____________________________________________________
What use do they hold?
Without flight, they're forced to walk everywhere. Practically drakes now. But with their flapless wings, they basically have two extra hands. Now known best for their grappling and gathering skills for having to use their wing muscles in different fashions. Because they're using their legs much more, they're great at climbing and faster than your average Obelisk. They're often used for construction, gathering, or protection in their clans, sometimes purposely used to breed more Barren Branches to get more of these specialized dragons.

Does your obelisk meet the requirements? You're welcome to register your dragon for Barren Branches! That meaning, you can add the lore given into your dragon to give it some extra story sparkles. Plus add some snazzy stickers in their bio ;)
Anyone is welcome to use the signature stickers/buttons, or use the larger stickers for advertisement. And if your Obelisk is registered you can slap one on their bio!
