[*]Next, go to the tab labeled 'Host List'. Here you can view what all information is needed for you to be added to the list. (your FR name, ID (so that if your name changes, we can still find you later, need be), and a link to the lair and/or hibernal den tab(s) where you will be storing the traveling dragons in your care. You can also add any notes you want to have, whether that be a greeting, lore, or just general notes on how many you can hold, or how often you send travelers back home if they aren't picked up. It is entirely up to you to decide what you feel is important (if anything) for other players to see!) [*]Please sort any travelers you are holding as a Rest Hub Host Lair into a tab exclusive to travelers. This is important, as it allows other players to see the travelers you currently have available, so that they can get picked up! [center][b][size=6]Adopting Travelers[/b][/size] Sometimes dragons have a dead home lair, and thus no 'home' to return to aside from the traveler's hub. While we will never turn them away, we do like to periodically send any travelers who have it as an option 'back home' to the home lair. With a dead home lair, this is their last stop; they have no where else to go, other than just back out on adventures once their time is up (which is both a tad bit sad and a great lore opportunity!). Sometimes you absolutely fall head over heels for a traveler (and who wouldn't- they can have art, wacky lore, and amazing personalities even just aside from the traditional beauty standards). You take them in, and just can't bear to see them go anywhere else. What's a dragon lover to do? Adopt them, of course! Below are the appropriate courtesies of taking in both travelers with dead Home Lairs as well as active Home Lairs. [img]https://40.media.tumblr.com/26e91c4b0ac07800d9c04bcf1dc8a97a/tumblr_inline_nxqzzmOUyn1ts73zp_540.png[/img] [center][b][size=4]Adopting Dead Home Lair Travelers[/b][/size][/center] When adopting a dragon with a dead home lair, it is quite simple, and you also have a couple of options on what to do![/center] [list=1] [*]You decide to take in the dragon and make it's home lair yours, but keep sending it out on travels. This means that if someone wants to return the dragon, you would be the designated lair to send it to, aside from this hub. [*]You decide to take in the dragon as a new perma, and keep it as a retired traveler. This means that it no longer goes out on traveling journeys (though you always could later on), and is part of your lair full-time. [/list] In either scenario, you simply change the home lair to yours, and proceed in whatever manner appeals to you. Quite a few travelers even have notes stating that they are looking for permanent homes someday already in their bios! [*]After discussing and/or notifying the current home lair about the rehoming, you change the home lair in their bio to your name. [*]Now, you have the option to either take in the dragon as a new perma and keep it as a retired traveler, or continue to send it out on travels. Life happens. Sometimes folks go on hiatus, announced or unannounced, or simply don't spend as much time active. I have even come across lairs that are fully active, but simply don't feed their lairs! And some folks are simply shy, or more quiet and private. So, appearances can be deceiving, and it is important to be thorough when checking a lair for activity. Below is a list of things to check/do when trying to determine if a lair is dead or not. It is not a fully exhaustive list, nor is every item listed required to be checked when looking for a lair's activity. Just be sure to use common courtesy and sense when looking- you would wish the same for you if the situation was in reverse! [b]What to Look For:[/b] [LIST] [*]Fully unfed lair (always check the lair! Remember that the fed status of dragons in the hibernal den won't change!) [*]No recent forum activity (I generally consider at least 3-6 months of no activity a good benchmark) [*]No recent activities on their clan page activity tracker (hatchlings, achievements, friend responses, etc.) [*]No message responses (Send them a PM or clan page note to check in. If they don't respond, that could be an indicator. I generally consider 2-4 weeks a good timeframe.) [*]Giveaway thread, hiatus, or leaving note (Check the clan bio or their last forum posts. If they intended to leave for a long time, they may have left a note stating as such!) Suffice it to say, there are a lot of plates that I am spinning right now. And as much as I love flight rising, I need to put that particular plate down for the time being to keep spinning the others. So, what does that mean for the hub? Hopefully nothing.
