The two had been working together for as long as either of them could remember, tracking, researching, and hunting down all sorts of creatures from ghosts to illusive cryptids. They worked well as a team and the close calls and near death experiences had only strengthened their bond.
Cainwen, the dragon who's own mother had an inner struggle against a demon, held a personal grudge against demon-kind and Shade-touched things. He'd been followed by shade-figures most of his life and had quickly learned to deal with them. Meanwhile Genna had been dragged into the world of cryptids and other such supernatural creatures due to her own curiosity. She wouldn't have it any other way though, as a normal life seemed much too dull after her experiences.
The pair finally admitted their feelings for each other- or rather Genna did so boldly give Cainwen had otherwise been oblivious to her shared feelings. Of course, soon after would come hatchlings. Hatchlings that would very well be dragged into their world of chaos and danger. Cainwen feared for the safety of his children and any future kin and decided it would be best to send them off.
Genna, wasn't so sure that was the right course of action but agreed sending their family out into the world could bring safety to other dragons. In the end, the two would come to a compromise. Their hatchlings would be sent off into the world with the knowledge of the threats they may face and an encouragement to deal with them. The ability to do so was in their blood and the two could only hope that the dark beings that stalked their lives wouldn't go after their hatchlings before they were strong enough to defend themselves.
Only time would tell if their bloodline would expand and their kin would cower in the shadows or work to follow in their parent's footsteps. Worse, with all the power they could wield with that knowledge... some could use it to cause harm. For better or worse, Cainwen and Genna were determined to keep the family business going both for the safety of their descendants and others.
