TOPIC | open the door 2

first of all, i hope it's okay that i'm making a second one of these. it's always super difficult to snag a door on the original open the door thread so i thought i'd start a second one to maybe make it a bit easier and give more people a chance to play! (the other one is still going strong so be sure to head over there too!)

this works the exact same as the other one:

someone posts three doors and then each of those doors is claimed. once all the doors are claimed, the user who posted the doors makes another post revealing what was behind each door. one of the doors must have a dragon behind it!

the user who chose the door with the dragon will post the next set of doors.

give me rats and bats
and lungs and guts and flesh
and of course i'll post the first set of doors!

the first door is made of what appears to be rotting wood, and it is riddled with small--are those miniature tunnels? you lean in closer to see if you can see anything through them, and just as you're about to put your eye to the hole in the door, a small black bug crawls out of it. yikes! you stumble backwards, startled by its sudden appearance.

the second door isn't much of a door at all, but rather a small, crudely-made hole in the wall, just the right size for a human to crawl through. you peer into it, placing your hands just on the edge, and while you aren't able to see anything, you can tell by the texture that the hole reaches through stone. how long does it go on, you wonder, but you're unable to tell.

the third door is made of wood as well, though this wood is in much better condition and seems to be thicker than the first. it's a rich red color, and at the very tip top is a small, rectangular window. you stand on your toes, trying your hardest to get a look at what's inside, and you can just reach the bottom of the window. however, to your disappointment, the small window seems to be fogged up.

I think this is a pretty good idea, what with users commenting literally seconds after the doors are posted. I hope the creator will approve. :0

But anyways, may I try for "door" two?

@Laurry you decide you aren't going to let a single bug deter you. after all, it's smaller than you are, and probably more afraid of you than you are of it. you take a deep breath and turn the door handle--oh. well then. the door handle fell right out of the door. it must be even more rotted than it looks. you grimace and then try pushing on the door with your foot... oh god, bugs! everywhere! they seem to come out of the room in waves, flying and crawling out of the room as fast as their tiny legs and wings can carry them. knowing that these will make a great meal for some of your dragons, you open up the bag you have with you, capturing as many as will creepy-crawl their way into the bag. [item=common shellbug][item=dung beetle][item=bluetipped shellbug] ----- @TheBestiary you look around the room one last time to make sure there are no better options, and then crouch down in front of the hole. "here goes," you whisper to yourself, and begin to crawl. quickly, the light disappears from the room behind you, and you're in total darkness. soon after that, the hole seems to get even smaller, and you're dragging yourself along on your belly. but just when you feel like you're going to have to turn back, you find yourself tumbling out the other side. it's not much brighter, but you're able to discern that you're in a huge cave. and in front of you is... is that... ? a nocturne!? she seems pretty comfortable with this place. maybe you can go with her, see if she'll lead you out... You are sitting in a chair that seems to be in a small, enclosed room with its walls painted white. After looking around, you realize that there are only three ways out, through three very different "doors".

The first door is very grainy to the touch, and when you run your fingers over its surface, your fingers come up with a fine layer of white powder coating them. Hesitatingly, you give it a lick. Huh; salty. The doorknob seems to be the only thing that won't give your hand a coating of white, although it is quite hard to grasp, considering the fact that it seems to be made of only wrapped up linen scraps. This door looks an awful lot like a baking experiment gone wrong, if you think about it.

The second door is searing to the touch, and is painted a bright, bold red. There are various runes carved into the side that glow a faint orange whenever you step close to the door, but there doesn't seem to be any handle. You note that there also seem to be tiny yellow gems embedded around the doorframe, located more inwards than the runes. The whole door is giving off an aura of heat, and you can feel the warmth even back in the chair.

The third door is made almost completely of leaves, and sways a bit whenever a gust of wind from behind it starts up. The faint swishing sounds don't die off after the leaves stop moving, though; something continues to move behind the doors. Since it's barely a door, you could probably just push aside the leaves and duck inside.
