i don't update the pinglist or this thread anymore. i'm working on an official rewrite of this au, it's just taking awhile because my computer's not displaying text right so i can't actually read or edit any of my official voidwaker rewrite files right now.
DISCLAIMER: I don't actually think there's any chance of us getting a new flight, much less this as a flight. Nor am i asking for this to be taken as a serious suggestion. It's just fanfic speculation purely for fun.

I was half awake at like 4 in the morning and i had one of those weird "Sounds like a good idea at the time" thoughts. So enjoy this fanfic fuel.
"In time, it came to pass that the 11 finally met in battle, their magic and talons clashing in mirror to that of their flights. claw and tooth met magic and alchemy, in a great thunderous war that shook the very world itself to the core. But the war of the elements was not to be won that day-for in all their time fighting endlessly amongst themselves, they had forgotten one other."
"From the deepest shadows and the furthest corners of the world it came, slithering tendrils of dark nothing, leaving the safety of the hosts it had waited to gather it's strength in for so long. Such a magical surge as was caused by the warring gods had not gone unnoticed. At first they came unseen, dark wisps crawling across the landscape like eldritch serpents, but the 11 soon took notice, staring in shock and fear at what they had thought long gone. The nothing was gathering quickly...... And beginning to take shape.
It was a mindless thing, but it posessed a memory of a sort. With each host it had taken just a little bit of an imprint of their form had been left on it, and in it's own strange way, it had learned. Many other forces had taken physical form in this world, but the universe is a thing of balance. All things must have an opposite-but the Arcane flight has been an anomaly to this rule, as the 11th flight with no known opposite. And now, the same strange forces that had worked on the world 11 times before are set into motion once more, to correct the anomaly that is Arcane, for what better opposite to pure magic than nothingness itself?"
"With increasing horror they watched as the swirling amorphous mass before them grew and twisted. Fires went out, Ice melted, Nature withered away, Water evaporated, magic itself was drained from the air. And from the dark mass a shape emerged, though recognizable features breifly formed on it's body and were reabsorbed in an endless cycle, only a few features remained constant- Great, twisted dark wings that blotted out the sky and countless needle-toothed maws thrashing wildly and snapping at nothing. Together it's heads roared, but there was no sound-only a strange wave that absorbed all sound into a deafening silence".

So here's another idea. This one was based on the "Waker" part of the Voidwaker's name and the whole idea of dreams/reality with some Zhuangzi's butterfly concepts thrown in.
Origin Of The Voidwoken-Servants of the Voidwaker
The Voidwaker floated like a ghost across the landscape. Searching for something. Hunting for something. Hunting for magic. It did not take long for it to sense what it was looking for.
Dragons fled in terror from the great eldritch shape before them, as the sun was blotted out by it's great wings and it's presence radiated a crushing hopelessness. It's many amorphous limbs thrashed about wildly in attempt to catch them as they ran.
One of them was very unlucky that day.
Morokal wondered what he had done to make the gods feel he deserved this, as tendrils of dark nothingness wrapped themselves around him. Paralyzed by the horrible despair that the creature seemed to generate, he could only stare into the abyss that was it's terrifying eyes and pray to the deities for a quick death.
And the abyss stared back into him.
The Voidwaker tore the very magic out of his soul, and in it's absence nothingness began to fill it's place. Morokal was a dragon, lived the life of a dragon, knew he was a dragon, knew what his reality was. And what a pleasant dream that had all been. But then the last magic was drained from his soul and the nothingness filled where it had been.
And then it woke up from it's dream.

I just had another weird half asleep idea, this time a symbol for the void element. I made a rough outline of it in paint.

I know it's impossible to get actual dragons with missing wings and no elements, but i came up with something in the scrying workshop that looks kind of like them. It helps if the dragon has Shadow eyes.
Primary: Petals, Jupiter-Obsidian
Secondary: Basic, Shimmer, Stripes, Peregrine-White, Orca
Teriary: Gembond, Crackle, Smoke, Thylacine-Obsidian
I've been thinking about if it would be possible for this to actually become a thing on the site, and if so, how it would work. To start with, the subject of the dom chart-The Beastclans have already proved that adding new factions to the dom chart is far from impossible, and the Voidwaker's territory on the world map would work basically the same way(Scattered pockets in the hidden corners of each flight's territory). For it to be an actually playable flight, obviously a lot of new art and general work would be needed-New elemental battlestones, lair locations on the world map, element-themed lair backgrounds, entries in the lore encyclopedia, possibly a new dragon breed, new private forums, new eyes for dragons, probably new coli enemies and new items, possibly even a new elemental holiday, and of course all the work that would be required just to add a new flight to the site's code. Shade dragons in lairs of other elements could be explained as captives, spies, or pretty much just whatever the person writes in their lore. Dragons of other elements in Shade lairs could be explained as prisoners or dragons that willingly joined but haven't been converted to the void element yet.
In short, it would be difficult and a lot of work, but i think it could be done.
I made some descriptions for subregions of NULL (The Voidlands) awhile back and never got around to posting them. So here they are.
The Ends Of Infinity
A scattered patchwork of small areas where the influence of the Voidwaker has only just begun to take hold, slowly spreading like a horrifying sickness from their place of origin. It is within these frontier lands that many of the newly-woken take their first steps.
The Boundless Dark
Twisted, eldritch, alien lands extending beyond vision in all directions, a nightmarish landscape where the corrupting nothing has begun to eat away at reality. Many things are possible here that should not be and still are not elsewhere, such as cause and effect sometimes being ordered wrong. This massive land is densely populated with all manner of surreal and impossible wildlife which sustain the clans living within.
Zero's Division
Deep in the heart of The Boundless Dark lies a massive crater-like structure, immesurable miles wide and deep and seeming to be growing by the day. Beyond it's rim is a deep darkness impenetrable by mortal eyes but paradise to the Voidwoken within. Here, the corruption runs so deep that the laws of reallity have begun to unravel. The clans living in the walls and floors of the Division make use of it's non-Euclidean nature to construct their lairs.
The Singularity
In the depths of Zero's division lies an inner rim known as the Event Horizon, beyond which reality has entirely ceased coherence. The Event Horizon is seen as a final test of sorts for the most devoted of the Voidwoken, the goal of the test being to sucessfully venture past the Event Horizon to it's core without ceasing to exist. At said core is the Singularity, the birthplace of the Voidwaker itself and the center of it's power. Only the oldest and most powerful of clans can make their lairs in the place beyond the Event Horizon.
Void rune icons!
Hey guys, it's been awhile. Haven't really had any ideas or energy to put towards this in a long time, but I've finally brought some new art. Last night i threw together some quick concepts of hypothetical Void element eye types. Don't worry about the radioactive base, i only used it because it makes it easier for me to see where I'm drawing.
Pictures are at the bottom because Columns doesn't want to cooperate.
Common:
First up, pretty straightforwards. A plain black eye for all your edge needs.
Uncommon:
This one's a little more sloppy, but with a firm black/white color scheme having a silvery grey tint option made sense.
Unusual:
This one's black sclera and white irises are meant to reflect the lore pages art of the shade, with it's tiny glowing white dot eyes. Also it's just pretty.
Rare:
A powered up version of the last one basically. I wanted to have at least one option with solid white pupils, and rare seemed like the best slot for it. Also i just didn't have any other ideas.
Faceted:
Nothing noteworthy here. I couldn't think of any effect to add that didn't disrupt the original eye design too much.
Multi-Gaze:
Again, pretty straightforwards.
Primal:
Ohhh boy this one was fun. The idea behind this eye is that since primal eyes reflect the element they're based on, and the shade and by extension Voidwaker's aesthetic has very heavy mouth/eating/consuming/ect symbolism, the eyes have been replaced entirely with two giant toothy mouths with glowing throats. The subtle swirls on the spikes are also a reference to it's cloudlike shape. I'm actually upset it's not a real eye now.
Glow:
This one's pretty boring. I couldn't actually make it glow black, if i made it white it would be indistinguishable from ice glow eyes, and i couldn't just lift the glowing eye directly from a scry image because of issues with transparency on the glow around the eyelids. Instead i went for "Bottomless black pits of nothing that darkness is radiating out of".
Bonus Round:
I liked the primal one so much i couldn't resist making another version of it on a more appealing model.
