When forming pairs, which takes precedence; color consistency or gene reliability?
About how many initial pairs should an up and coming hatchery have to start with?
What other services could we provide? nests for rent, studs for loan, etc.

I say that color consistency is more important when forming pairs. You want hatchlings to fit a theme and look pretty at the same time.
An up and coming hatchery should have four pairs at the least.
And other services you could provide- nests would work, depending on the flights. Art may also work, if you have someone working for the hatchery to draw art for the hatchlings/customers.
