Coli a lot is the best advice, yeah! My strategy was to always first check what Swipp is offering at the moment, and then if he's offering chests to farm in the venue that drops the things he's asking for. You can get like 4 chests from Swipp in the two hours it takes for the trades to refresh even when you're not actually intensely grinding plus any chests that drop from the coli enemies (which depends on your luck, really), it keeps the coli from getting too monotone (the way it usually does when training fodder, blargh @ the mire), and overall works out pretty well.

EDIT: and eggs aren't even really that uncommon. I think I got like 20 eggs last year, but only one noc scroll.

Baldwin and Swipp!! If the mobs are giving you a hard time in the coli, you can always rely on our friendly trading post npcs :D
If I remember correctly, you can also get the chests from digging?

@Serkaralka Well, if you just start with training fields you'll still get a ton of materials for swipp chests! The way they work is there's a lot of different chest trades offered, and they all give the same chest except with using up different materials. And as you farm, you'll level up, and get more and more variety of materials you can use. That's one of the reasons why I like notn, beacause all the venues drop more or less the same amount of stuff.

@Serkaralka Stock pile Baldwin mats, ooze, sludge, goo, slime, muck. Your gonna want to have the cauldron spitting out Night of the Nocturne stuff instead of wasting time transmuting the materials needed. Last year I believe a lot of the red materials were needed.
