I don't get it.

They are the largest breed anyway.

They eat Faes as well.

i imagine converting food is just sorting through a pile, deciding if it is to be eaten, sold, or saved.

Whales, the largest animals on earth eat some of the smallest animals on earth, plankton and krill. I don't think explaining imps and insects is all that hard.

They may go after some of the larger insects and hunt those, eating so many pounds each day, much like big cats.

Or they could be like anteaters and aye aye's. Spending their days licking up hoards of insects or ripping open trees and nests to get to them.

Imperials eat all day like pandas do, because they're big fat noodles that requires a lot of food to not die.
