Because I hope for Lorenieth to become a strong on-site community, I'm totally open to hearing ideas for discussion from any members and add them to a pool of future discussion topics! Anything from the Lorebook section of the Encyclopedia, to the dragons in the Trading Post, to the map and even the gods themselves fall under this category. [*][b]The Gene Lore Pinglist[/b] is for people who want to discuss lore possibilities and usages for certain genes. It could be a great way for people to get ideas for lore when you love a dragon but aren't sure how to incorporate their genes into the equation! [*][b]The Breed Lore Pinglist[/b] is for people who want to discuss either official site lore for FR breeds or personal lore possibilities and usages for those breeds. This could also be a great way to share ideas! [*][b]The User Lore Pinglist[/b] is for people who want to share their lore and discuss lore made by other members. This may be anything from how to incorporate different flight representatives to specific jobs around the lair to types of stories or characters. [/LIST] [size=4][u][b]How do I suggest a new lore topic for future discussion?[/b][/u][/size] In order to avoid getting off-topic, lore topic submissions will be done through PMs! If you put forth your suggestion in this way, we may not consider it until it's submitted properly. Also note that certain types of submissions will [i]not[/i] be considered, including those that go against Flight Rising's Forum Code of Conduct and those that have already been discussed within the last six months. [size=4][u][b]How are lore topics picked?[/b][/u][/size] In an effort to maintain variety in the types of topics discussed, lore topics are generally picked in a pseudo-random fashion over a 2-week period. The major topic categories will typically rotate in this order: [LIST=1] [*][b]Site Lore[/b] [*][b]Gene Lore[/b] [*][b]Breed Lore[/b] [*][b]User Lore[/b] [/LIST] [i]*This may occasionally be overridden when things like new genes, breeds, or site lore comes out! It can be more fun to discuss things while they're hot![/i] Once the major topic category is selected, I or one of the thread volunteers will take a list of current suggestions for that topic and randomize it [url=https://www.random.org/lists/]here[/url]. Whichever is on top will be picked as the discussion topic for that week! It will then be removed from the list of current suggestions, and may only be added back to the pool if it is re-suggested at least six months after its last discussion period.

We hope that Lorenieth will be a place where discussion remains civilized, kind, and on-topic! As such, we would appreciate it if you read through and followed the guidelines below:

• Please be constructive and kind if giving another member feedback on their lore. The goal of this thread is to build upon each other's ideas and discuss lore in a peaceful environment. If a user asks for any advice or ideas and you have thoughts to offer, it would be appreciated if you phrase it in such a way that encourages them to rethink or expand upon their lore, not give up and never try again.
  
  
• If you do not like someone else's take on a prompt, please ignore their post. Everyone is encouraged to share their ideas, even if they dip well into headcanon territory, and even if they go in a direction you may not find personally tasteful or interesting. If the latter is the case, we feel it is kinder to ignore that post and redirect your energies towards sharing your own ideas or bouncing ideas off of a post you prefer. This guideline is further elaborated upon here and here.
  
  
• Please do not post excessive reaction gifs or images. Having pictures in your post is totally fine, but we would rather no one overdo it. This is to help make sure contributions are easy to follow and read!
  
  
• Please do not post more than three scries or dragons at a time if you wish to share any. Again, this is to help make sure contributions are easy to follow and read!

As an additional, non-discussion-related guideline: please do not add or remove others from the pinglist without their explicit permission. Having a self-editing pinglist is convenient for you, me, and the thread volunteers, but if this becomes a regular occurrence, we may be forced to replace it with a standard request-to-be-added-or-removed pinglist. This guideline is now explicitly stated in this post due to events discussed here.

If you see that someone is breaking these guidelines, please PM me or one of the thread volunteers about it. The thread volunteers and I would rather discuss it with the specific user over private messages (with full anonymity given to those who notify us) than disrupt the flow of interesting and pleasant discussion with reminders of the guidelines mid-prompt.

If you are chosen as a volunteer, you may be asked to help with any of the following:

• Facilitate positive discussion.
  
  
• Add suggestions submitted to you via PM by members of Lorenieth to the suggestion hub (accessible by volunteers only), including the submitter if not anonymous.
  
  
• Move suggestions on the current suggestion hub to the "Used Within the Last Six Months" section with its date of discussion.
  
  
• Delete suggestions from the "Used Within the Last Six Months" section when they are officially free to be added back to the pool.
  
  
• Occasionally post discussion topic starter posts, including the prompt, the submitter (if not anonymous), the relevant ping lists (general and major topic specific), and possibly your personal thoughts or questions about the prompt.

Aaaaaand, everyone's free to post. :D For now I'd like to use this thread to take public feedback, especially regarding the guidelines and prompt submissions, before Lorenieth's first official discussion prompt goes live on April 1st, 2018 -- and yes, that date is no joke!

Additionally, prompt submissions are now officially OPEN! I decided to put a small sample of prompt ideas in each major category as a buffer, but it'll take the community to add new and interesting suggestions to the submission pool as the thread goes on!
