I am on Tumblr often and ever since the eye update launched I have seen nothing but people saying that it's "not fair". It's "not fair" that another element of random chance has been added to breeding projects. It's "not fair" that there isn't a way to definitively get the eyes you want. It's an update that's "not fair".

I'm not sure what breeding element of Flight Rising has been established as "fair"? At its heart it's a browser game (game!) largely based on random chance. The staff clearly put a lot of time and effort and love into this update and I've seen so many people just whining about how it's going to make things hard for them. Why should you be able to roll exactly what eye type you want? You've never been able to get the exact colors you want every time unless you have two parents with exactly the same genes, and you've never been able to Scatterscroll for exactly what colors you want, either.

I accept the criticism that some of the primal eyes look a little....extra. I like them but they're not to everyone's taste. That's fine. I also accept that it's weird that the Scattersight scrolls are going to be a temporary item. I can see staff changing that in the future, because it doesn't make sense to always have Scatterscrolls available for colors and Gene scrolls available for genes but nothing available to modify eye types.

But what I don't accept is that this new element of randomness is somehow unfair in some way. It's exactly the same mechanics the game has always had, they just added an extra one. Maybe E3 has me cranky but I'm sick of seeing people harass creators for more content and then getting furious when the content isn't good enough.

Because people have spent time, energy and even RL money to make breeding projects that have matching eyes.

Now all that work is just thrown to the wind. Wouldn't you be upset if something you spent hundreds of dollars on changed a year after you bought it?

Yeah. Pretty much.
It's a big overreaction imo.

My only problem with this is that we only have three days to get this RNG item to customize our old dragons to our liking. I desperately want to get Caligo (my icon) primal eyes, but even though I've been grinding relentlessly I don't think I'll be able to actually get it. I'm at 31 vial uses now. The vials don't drop very easily. I'll have dry spells for thirty minutes to an hour and then get a few, then go back to dry spells. In my opinion, it's unfair that we have so little time to get something that has RNG immensely stacked against our favor for great eyes for dragons that we cannot simply replace.

Not to mention everything just kind of feels rushed on this update. Like they forgot the anniversary was coming up and realized "OH JEEZ WE NEED TO GET SOMETHING OUT THERE" and didn't take the time to really refine it :( I mean, take a peek at multi-gaze, it looks... honestly, in most cases, it looks pretty shoddy :T Copy pasted, white lines on the outside that are EXTREMELY visible on darker dragons and just look like a toy.

I just feel sad and disappointed. Why not at least a week to gather up these things? Or give a slightly better chance for primal/facet/multi? Give a body horror option for people that can't tolerate the plague/shadow/etc primal and the multi-gaze?

I agree with OP with the point of things being “unfair” with breeding/hatching parts. The only unfair part is the scattereyes. That there are only 3 days, not a week or 2 for something so important for many of us with old dragons or the progens it’s just not enough time. I don’t even mind that they will retire, just give more time with something that big. As for breeding projects to me it adds that extra special thing. It makes rolling those unmatched eggs even more exciting. I love the update and it has put more vigor in a game that to me, who has been here for over 4 years, has been looking for.

[/quote] BOLDED, check out my signature. this was DEFINITELY an [i]extremely[/i] rushed update. there is literally no excuse for that kind of quality. there are several things not listed in the OP that people are upset about concerning the update, and have an absolute right to be upset about. people DO pay RL money on this game. there's a huge line between fandoms being fandoms and people wanting better service provided to them. people WANT to pay real life money to play the game, but if they feel their voices aren't being heard, or staff is repeatedly releasing extremely subpar content, those are things that NEED to be addressed.

Honestly not too bothered by the update, i kinda think people are over reacting but
/shrug

I feel like the eyes are super rushed and would have been better as apparel. Like the disgruntled view eyes
light, water, and fire primal all look ridiculous
