TOPIC | Genes on Gijinkas
When/if y'all draw gijinkas of your dragons, how do you interpret different genes? For example, I tend to draw speckle/freckle/piebald/paint as vitiligo, runes as body paint, etc.

Anybody else have a certain way they draw genes on humanized dragons?

I draw things like thyacline and tiger as if they were tattoos or just some cool Shaman markings depending on the fake lore I make up in the exact moment I'm drawing

I tend to highly stylize the genes to the point you probably can't tell what they actually are, whoops~

I think the only genes that look recognizable in my style would be runes = magic around the hands and face; firefly = fairies or sprites; and filigree = elaborate/ornate jewelry.

sometimes i intemperate crackle as a ton of scars on the dragons' body, especially when the dragon has a red-ranged crackle. for example, see my dragon ninigi's gijinka i drew as an example: i draw it as blood too, sometimes~ otherwise, when i draw gijinkas, they're still somewhat dragon-like, so not every gene will be different edit: almost forgot, ghost is face/body paint!

in all honestly, i think i make genes like opal and starmap prominent in clothing. that's where i find they fit most! with opal and crystal and glimmer, i give dragons excessive jewelry. smirch can be seen in clothing, scars and possibly even vitiligo! peacock can be used as things like jewelry too, like peacock feather earrings and capes!

check out my best friend who is also a nerd
I really dislike seeing genes on human faced dragons... mind you I usually dislike gijinka in general. Humanoid dragons where they only have vaguely human shaped bodies I'm okay with and like genes on, but not where they have a human face.

I don't usually incorporate genes into my dragons' gijinka forms as they always have skin toned colors on them (unless alien). More like on colors and apparel. There are some exceptions for that, like piebald/paint as vitiligo, Speckle/freckle as having freckled skin and ghost, thyacline, tiger, circuit and runes as body paint. Jaguar/Rosette sometimes can be used in a piece of clothing.

Genes that incorporates another color like skink/spinner,poison/toxin and lionfish/noxtide might be interpreted as highlights for the dragon's hair or will be an accent color for their clothing.
