You know, I love going around newbie's profiles to welcome them, and I noticed the majority of them simply made their progens and left. So...why did you stay after such a long time? Is the the aesthetic, community, or anyone in particular?

I love dragons?
It's a nice way to spend the little time I have after work.
Just wind down with some fairgrounds or Coliseum grinding. No rush to do anything at all(outside of Festival time haha), don't have to worry about dragons dying or anything like other pet sites. Just chill, scry up some plans, poke around the forums. Good times.

I've told this story before, but here I go again. Minor CW for not being a very happy reason at first.
I signed up for this game with my girlfriend. We had broken up a year previously but we were tentatively working on getting back together. We both loved the art style and the dragon babies and the colors, so we signed up at the same time. She went into Wind, I went into Arcane.
Two weeks after we signed up, she died in a head-on collision. It was ... sudden, and traumatic, and awful. And I desperately needed something to do to keep my mind off of how gutted I was, and this just happened to be the distraction I needed. I threw myself into building up my coliseum team, stashing away treasure and gems, and playing Fairgrounds games.
Now, I also went into grief counseling and had some other things to keep me occupied. But Flight Rising was a big part of getting me through the worst year of my life, and I'll always be grateful for that. I'll take game breaks every so often, but I always come back because it was such a comfort to me when I most needed it.

The first time around that I stayed, it was because i liked my sparkle babies. i could make my dragons whatever i wanted (almost), and plus i had this sentimental attachment to them. they were my babies and i loved them. i still do. i was always very proud of the progress i made and couldn't wait to grow into a huge lair.
after i came back from my hiatus, i now decided to stay for new reasons 1) the reasons before, i have even more beautiful dragons now and 2) the awesome community. People here are amazing and so kind. i wish i could just virtually hug them all.
plus now i'm eager to see where this site goes, and with ancient breeds on the horizon, i challenge anyone on this planet to try to separate me from FR now.

But in actuality it's the lore. I like writing lore, and playing characters -- heck, it's partially why I decided to become Joxar recently tbh-- and this is great for that. It's way easier to write for characters when you have a fixed idea of their appearance, and the random element of those characters having kids just makes things way better.
Writing is a really soothing thing for me, and... I need that. I think if I lost my precious pixel babs at this point I'd go seriously hurt something, and that's not something I own up to easily.
