I'm curious as to how everyone thinks Gaolers of different flights behave compared to Ice Gaolers.
In their official breed info it says for example that they overpower others by using ice to bog down dragons from running or flight, and are utilitarian, and they abhor useless trinkets and hoarding of anything.
How would this translate to say, the free spirited Flight of Wind? Would their nature be altered? How drastically would their hunting tactic change?
In a science based flight like Lightning, would they not collect curious things for science? Have they no interest in anything other than guarding prison?
If they were created by the Ice Warden how are they popping up in new flights?
I'm curious as I am writing a bio for my soon to be Lightning Flight, Gaoler.
(Last dragon in my lair has a prepped bio before I breed change him if anyone wants to see some of my ideas)

Wind gaolers allow themselves to have one feather/other small thing decorating their room. Only one.

Now I wonder what Ice Gaolers think about other Gaolers. Do they consider them equals or do they treat them like other dragons?

I think that Galoers would find non ice galoers as a disgrace as the wind galoer chomps on a squeaky toy

Hmm . . . I envision Gaolers of non-ice flights as behaving mostly like ice Gaolers in the first few generations, and then acting more and more like their new flight as the family spends more time away from ice territory.

Please help me raise my Dragon Cave hatchlings and hatch my eggs by viewing and clicking on them. :D (A big thank you to everyone who has already helped!)

Perhaps they're interested in technology that increases prison security, like magnetized locks or electric fences.
I imagine once Gaolers were released from their hibernation over in Coldashellville, they began migrating to hunt down the Shade again - perhaps specifically the new Seekers - and eventually began starting families and attempting to adjust to these strange multicultural modern dragon clans, albeit with difficulty. Who needs pants, anyway?

since gaolers had an entire order dedicated to wandering the wider sorneith to find and destroy the shade i just imagine non-ice gaolers to be the descendants of those seekers who didn't go back to the icefield when they all went underground.
maybe they found a jail somewhere else that they deemed important. perhaps they just had a really long damn nap. maybe they formed their own "underground" sub-culture of the ice flight gaolers and there's just 11 different versions of the original gaoler goal out there now. be interesting to see how those goals changed. like the ice flight collective we know still holds very tightly to the mission icewarden gave them of eradicating the shade but what if there's idk a lightning flight specific gaoler culture that's warped this into the idea that the only way to get rid of the shade is to remove anything that can be corrupted by it so they have this huge culture of augmentation and replacing limbs? what about arcane gaolers who've decided to protect the world from the shade by keeping a hard watch for it and so they're constantly studying the stars wondering where it came from and what it's made of and how they can use that to their advantage. they probably have heaps and heaps of like glass tanks or smth filled with tiny puddles of shade goop to study idk.
and i feel that since the ice flight gaolers now know that they've "failed" icewarden by letting the shade infect everything just a lil bit then maybe they won't hate the other flight gaolers bc well i mean none of them were successful either. perhaps their logic will be that all 11 flights had better darn well work together this time.
sorneith is the jail. the shade must be kept out
idk man i'm gonna breed change a nature dragon into a gaoler who keeps a 'reverse jail' in that she keeps those inside from being hurt by those outside. amuses me

Ah, a dragon-run dragon zoo. I wonder how well that goes for the inhabitants...

I have a light and a lightning gaoler, so I just said that the Seekers of old established new gaols and bases in different parts of Sornieth so that Shade creatures could be caught and maybe shipped to the Fortress of Ends if dangerous enough. Non-ice gaolers generally aren't allowed to do actual imprisonment work in the gaols in other flights, since they can't use the ice shackles, but they could be Seekers or Sentries. You can check out Thundersnow and Aurore's bios (they're my gaolers) for more info.
