As a sort of companion to the thread about accepting friend requests, do YOU ever send a total stranger a friend request (on purpose, that is)? Why?

I sometimes send friend requests to people who have fandragons from fandoms I'm really into. Because, cool, we have a love of something in common! I don't really have a social life here, so having them on my list is mostly cosmetic. But it's, you know, the principle of the thing.

I think I’ve sent like two friend requests in my entire time on fr. So no, I don’t really send them.

Also, they might not think it's random for one thing. I've gotten some where I've helped people out and gotten a request soon afterwards. I'm sure someone is also using it to try and bookmark players they want to look at the lair later.

Another is the friend "collectors" who want to grow their list to a certain size or as large as possible.

Only missclicks, otherwise I don't friend anyone I've not talked with before

Never done it before. Don't think i've ever sent a friend request at all tbh, just accepted ones from others

I don't really send random friend requests, but I accept all that I receive!

I accidentally send to one person once and we ended up with cross lore (well, I did, they still have to finish their piece, but they will one day, I believe haha), but normally I add people I talked to (pm's, front page messages, even dragon trades) at least some :)

ignoring missclicks... I send only to people who I met on insta and dA, used to send them to my fav artists but not anymore. I rarelly send em

I did it like.. twice in my almost 4 years here.

Idk I wanna have friends on here but I'm shy about messaging anyone or talking to anyone outside of a few forum posts back and forth because I worry that I'm bothering them or they don't like me and then I get really anxious and never message them and then they just stay on my friend list forever without any real interaction and I feel really bad about it. *Sharp inhale*

Honestly just thinking about it makes me anxious.

I accept random friend requests because well, why not! but then anxiety comes, kicks my door down and beats me into a pulp.

Its a never-ending cycle (this fridgein happens irl too, I hardly talk to anyone how the hecky do I even have friends)

Besides my misclicks, I only send friend requests to people I usually chat with on discord or if they were really friendly with me :0
