i donT GET IT, i have a question for all you gen 1 lairs out there;
I've always been obsessed with breeding my dragons, giving them genes from scratch and exposing unique color combos to people in the form of hatchery pairs (starcons bcos sparkles)
But lately I've just been, out of it. I don't want to get up and send off my pairs to nests or even update my little hatchery thread; breeding has became a chore. Life is moving faster and my thoughts are more focused on rl than FR.
i told myself to shove all of my pairs into hibden, minus the few dragons that i genuinely enjoy & are reps, and become a \mostly\ gen 1 lair; in the future i can decide whether or not I want to sell the pairs for profit or just keep them around for the memories.
what made you decide to become a gen 1 lair?? did you part ways with all of your old non-gen 1 dragons or did you keep some around because they meant something to you?
I'm v excited to start this next chapter of my FR journey while my life itself takes a change with it. \o/
... even if i may be a little bit sad throwing my cuties to the back.

I don't really remember why I became a G1 lair. I think it's becuase I feel more "bonded" to dragons I put so much effort into looking pretty and so it's more rewarding then just breeding or buying "pre-made" dragons (not that hatcheries are bad! I love lookin at them and seeing all the work people put into their pairs).
I got rid of most of my G2+ dragons but I have a few dragons in my den that I didn't want to get rid of or resell.

I became a g1 lair because I was kinda getting bored with how easy it was to get nice looking dragons. I wanted an extra challenge, so I got rid of any dragons I wasn't really attached to and those I had left I bought g1s with similar colors and replaced them.

it is clean. i enjoy the aesthetic of no parent and no children. geneing a gen 1 gives me a sense of pride and accomplishment.

I became a g1 lair because it's prestigious and I'm a glory hound ;D
I mean, I also like designing my own dergs. But the switch was motivated in large part by what people think is impressive, and turns out that's g1s lol.

I consider myself a (smol) g1 lair; I'm in the process of replacing my few non g1s and even my fandragons are all g1 (minus the imperials, who will likely be thrown in the den at some point).
I do keep fodder breeders around because $$$, and I use my non-g1 dragons as breeders that way I have an excuse to keep them!
Personally, I went g1 because I like the challenge. Another plus is I think I've ended up with far more interesting gene/color combos than I would have otherwise. It's really satisfying to gene a dragon up from basic and really make it your own!

When buying normal dragons I rarely feel any semblance of attachemnt for them- which sucks, because lore. I exalt most "perma" purchases in the first week of them being in my lair, and I have plans to do so with the 2 g2+ I jus bought as well. G1s give me the motive to gene them, and therefore connect to them more! I put so much effort into their look and genes, and it's all very personal to me.

In space, nobody can hear you scream.
I'm not a gen 1 lair but I feel like gen 1 dragons are more satisfying because of the work and outfits you put in.

I just wanted to be one of the cool kids.
In all honesty though, I think I switched just because I liked the aspect of them?
I think it's really cool to see a dragon that you put your heart and soul into designing every detail about them, be it their genes, outfit, lore or whatever. It's one of the greatest feelings getting a G1 completely finished.
It's also fun reading all the compliments other users give you about a dragon your worked so hard to complete.

not a full gen one lair, but they do make up the majority of my permas.
breeding has never been a big thing for me, so in terms of customizing dragons? gen ones were my go-to. i didn't really like the idea of buying tons of dragons simply to breed, (as i'm super interested in lore) and the satisfaction and pride that comes from finishing a gen one is truly unmatched!
i wouldn't really have a purpose or goal if it wasn't for gen ones, and all my projects have really kept my interest in the site up.
(i also like the clean slate that gen ones are—there are limitless possibilities when it comes to lore)
