this isn't a "show off your ridgebacks" thread im just... confused.
whenever people talk about their least favorite breeds, other than snappers and tundras i see ridgies mentioned a lot. and i really love ridgies!
i ESPECIALLY love their head shape! the wedge shape reminds me a lot of the design philosophy of the monster hunter monsters (as well as my own fursona, who has a similar head shape)
they've got a lot of "edgy" spiky qualities that i EAT UP. their bodies are a little short, and the male pose is a bit static, but it seems so odd to me that they seem to rank so low for the exact qualities i love them for. (that snoot is inspirational.)

im just really,, Not A Fan of them, honestly. they dont look especially bad- they just aren't my style and i forget they exist a lot. i might get one someday if one strikes my fancy, but to me they're just kinda there, existing

I absolutely LOVE how everyone draws ridgies in art, they really get across their good features, like their big blocky heads and how absolutely massive they are (plus the males and their absolutely wild swordfish noses), like can't state enough how much I love ridgebacks in art.
But for some reason, I don't really care for them in their official poses! It might be the spikiness. The body shape also feels so....segmented to look at??? Idk if that makes sense, but I really love dressing up dragons and everything just feels....smaller on ridgebacks. To me, at least.
They're not my fave, but I am warming up to them at least with
this one boy I got, I like him. I've seen some really great outfits on ridgebacks but I just can't make it work!

I love them. They feel very classic dragon to me, alongside Imps and Guardians.

The males are just awkward (sorry male Ridgeback fans xD) I just feel like their whole head, wings, neck and body doesnt really fit well. They feel a bit like the ''cool concept, poorly executed'' type of dragon. I think for most people they are just not appealing even if the idea is pretty cool.
I would love a spiky dragon but Ridgebacks are not doing it for me.

I never liked them, because they just looked mean. I don't know why, but they've always reminded me of those jerk characters that bully the unpopular kids in movies. I don't know if it's the spikes, or the poses, or what. They just rub me the wrong way.
I've slowly become a bit more tolerant of them over time, having so many pass through my lair as fodder, but I still wouldn't say I like them.
Edit: Now the babies on the other hand, I kind of like those. They're arrogant little dorks who take themselves too seriously.
