The starting set of genes for the new ancient are decided by contest. Staff reveals five or six gene ideas for the next ancient breed, and players buy votes with treasure, like Roundsey's. It has a tracker like Dominance, so you can see how your favorite genes are doing.
The two genes that get the most votes will be released with the ancient, and like, two or three surprise genes, and the others from the contest will be released 'eventually'. The 20 or so players that bought the most votes for the winning genes get a free copy.
Imagine the chaos. Coordinated efforts like Dom to boost the favorite gene. Some random millionaire coming in and just dumping like, 200,000 treasure onto a gene. Some troll boosting the Smirch-equivalent. The forums would be mayhem.
I can't decide if this is a good idea, or a terribly cursed one. On the other hand, it'd probably be a great treasure sink.
