(Yeah, another thread about exalting. No shade or discourse here, though, I'm just curious about a few habits of other exalters! No need to answer all the questions, either, just as many as you feel like.)
  1. Buy or breed fodder? Or do you prefer a mix of both?
  2. If you breed your own, do you have specific breeding pairs, or do you just throw whoever on a nest? Is there any aesthetic choice when picking a breeding pair, or do you just go for the lowest cooldowns?
  3. If you buy, do you get hatchlings or adults? Why?
  4. If you buy fodder, what's your opinion on low-energy dragons? Are you okay with burning the food if they're cheap enough? How low is "too low"?
  5. Where do you train, and who's your trainer? Do you have multiple venues you train in, or do you stick to just one? How fast/slow do you find it?
  6. What do you do while leveling? Podcasts, TV, music, etc...?
  7. What level do you train dragons to before sending them off?
  8. When did you start exalting? Was there something that made you start? Have your habits changed since then?
  9. How many dragons do you exalt per day? Does it change a lot or do you try to stay consistent?
  10. Is there any lore around exalting in your clan? If so, what is it? Is it different from official site lore?

Esme, a very red and Plague-themed Skydancer. A medallion depicting the Plaguebringer in profile.
1. I mostly breed my fodder
2. I have a few breeding pairs, mostly my two progens, Nightshade + Nyr, and Nymarin + Imbyrronth
3. If I ever do buy, I get adults. I'm impatient.
4. I've never bought a low energy dragon. Usually anything I buy is at full energy, no lower than half. I'm chalking that up to luck, though, as opposed to my own pickiness.
5. Mire. Mirage is my mire flyer. It's painfully slow and tedious, but I can't.. Do anything about that.
6. I can't listen to or watch things while I grind or fodder train. I absorb nothing from whatever I try to watch, and I find it significantly slows the training process. I can never listen to podcasts anyways. If it doesn't engage at two of my senses, I absorb nothing from it. I do listen to music sometimes during the training process, though!
7. Level 7. Always.
8. Bold of you to assume I have a memory.
9. I breed my open nests, wait for them to grow up, and then pick the ones I don't adore. Occasionally I'll grab a couple dragons I don't feel attached to anymore, but other than that, I don't exalt much more than my own hatchlings.
10. There isn't lore around anything in my clan, pal, I can't write to save my life

1. i buy fodders at 6kt and below at the ah. breeding's great and all but i hate waiting for the wee trash deraguns to age.
3. adults, i hate waiting for the wee trash deraguns to age.
4. hey if they're going into the death pot, the least i could do is feed them first
5. the mire's nice, lots of cowardly beasties.
6. i open up netflix in another window and watch a thing. it makes training dregs less of a drag
7. usually 7, sometimes 5 depending on how much they cost to buy and my current aversion to effort
8. i needed the gems.
9. i cant count. i use my fingers for simple math and if the calculator was never invented then i wouldn't have gotten past first grade.
10. i imagine exalting dragons to be like eating your vegetables. it's a mundane, common activity that doesn't get put into writing because it's not good enough to be worth the trouble.

Sounds like an interesting questionnaire

1. Mixture

2. Selected breeding pairs, picked based on how many of the potential offspring previews are appealing. Whatever doesn't sell is Fodder as adults.

3. Mixture. Hatchlings to store in Hibden until i can exalt as adults with daily bonus. Adults if I want fast profit or training for Dom.

4. Fodder is Fodder, I've got plenty of food to get them up if they're too low on energy, and i'll end up feeding the trainer anyway so why not?

5. Ghostlight Ruins with Cypher for standard profit, Mire with James for Quicker turnaround during events and dominance. either way it's about 2-3 minutes maximum for 2-fodder before they're ready to exalt.

6.Youtube vids, Netflix, Reading.

7. Level 6 usually. but i can range anywhere from 5-8 depending on what i feel like.

8. Late 2016, early 2017 was when i seriously started training to exalt, but I've never had a problem exalting any dragons that didn't sell for the 5+ years i've been playing.

9. Varies on how sick of the Coli I am that day, but it can be anywhere from 10 to 400 ish dragons.

10. nope, I don't do lore at all.

1. I mostly buy, but I have a few breeding projects going and anything that doesn’t fit my needs gets added to the pile.
3. Both. I buy hatchlings to put into the Hibernal Den— that always stays full. Then I’ll buy supplementary adults.
4. If I have to feed it to send it to Coli, I won’t buy it unless it’s at 500t or lower below the baseline.
5. Mostly Ghostlight ruins, though I’ve also done the mire. I’ve got a meditate monk and anticitank builds and will use whatever I feel like that day.
6. I read pretty often.
7. 5-6, depending on how much they cost.
8. I was never super against exalting, so I started pretty early on in my FR career. Probably about a year in, since at that point eliminates were getting veeery expensive and it took me a while to get enough to stone both my farming team and a flyer. Plus at that point Culex’s build had only just come out.
9. Usually about 12, though I’ve done up to 100 before if I feel up to it. Depends on how much time I have and what level they have to be at.
10. Exalting is going to serve the deities. My canon is that exalting lairs are actually waystations and testing centers for potential exalts, because I’d imagine the deities only wanting the best. So my clan’s actually next to an exalt testing site and part of the payout we get is from the Icewarden’s coffers (since he’s technically our employer)

  1. I buy fodder to exalt, breed fodder to sell.
  2. I have three pairs I generally use for fodder, all with low cooldowns. One has hatchlings that look really nice, the other is purposely designed to produce as many different color combinations possible. The third is there for when I have extra nest space.
  3. Always adults, I'm too impatient and don't have enough lair space to wait for them to grow up.
  4. I generally avoid buying them, but as long as they're about half I'll pick 'em up if there's nothing else.
  5. Mire, with my progen Flashwing. I pretty much just use the mire, although I'll go to the golem workshop if I only have one fodder dragon left. I'll generally go pretty fast for the level I like to exalt at.
  6. Really long youtube videos or anime. If it's a youtube video I'll probably also have another game open or be browsing the forums.
  7. 10, it's inefficient but I like the higher payout and it's a nice number.
  8. I've always exalted, it's too good a way to make money.
  9. Completely inconsistent, really depends on how I'm feeling day to day.
  10. There's a parallel in my lore every step of the way. Dragons sign up or are given away by their clans as mercenaries, and other clans enlist them from large travelling merchant groups in return for money. The new clans usually train them, then send them to the closest thing the flight has to an army/government in return for their own sum of cash.

Sure!
  1. Buy or breed fodder? Or do you prefer a mix of both?
Breed, mostly. I used to buy a little more, but I've been too busy lately to even train and exalt my own. So. Yeah, mostly breed.
  2. If you breed your own, do you have specific breeding pairs, or do you just throw whoever on a nest? Is there any aesthetic choice when picking a breeding pair, or do you just go for the lowest cooldowns?
I do have breeding pairs; they're all lore pairs, and I do like the look of them. I also have some lore pairs I farm out to other elements because... aesthetic. I try to sell them first, but if they don't sell, no big deal.
  3. If you buy, do you get hatchlings or adults? Why?
When I buy... I do both? It depends on what my life is doing. If I'm in a slow spell at work that I can depend on to last more than just a few days, I'll get hatchlings. Because the payout is better when I train and exalt. But if I'm really bored and didn't plan, I'll just get adults to train and exalt. That's pretty rare, though. Also! Sometimes I get adults to breed with my single adults before training and exalting them (and, most likely, their children with my permanent dragons).
  4. If you buy fodder, what's your opinion on low-energy dragons? Are you okay with burning the food if they're cheap enough? How low is "too low"?
I don't buy dragons that need to be fed before I train them. No 0-energy dragons ever. Pretty much anything less than 45 I don't buy.
  5. Where do you train, and who's your trainer? Do you have multiple venues you train in, or do you stick to just one? How fast/slow do you find it?
I've been having fun training two dragons in Roost lately with this girl. But I usually train with these two in Kelp Beds. I have a few other trainers that I use in Golem Workshop on occasion, but I really just like a variety.
  6. What do you do while leveling? Podcasts, TV, music, etc...?
Videos mostly. Sometimes TV or music.
  7. What level do you train dragons to before sending them off?
    Seven.
  8. When did you start exalting? Was there something that made you start? Have your habits changed since then?
You know, I don't remember? I think it was a combination of not having lairspace (when I first started I was a so-called "No Exalt" lair, but I think you grow out of that quick) and not having money.
  9. How many dragons do you exalt per day? Does it change a lot or do you try to stay consistent?
I am not at all consistent, probably to the point where the average number of dragons I exalt a day is... like, maybe one. Or two. If I have something to watch, I exalt a lot more. Which means I haven't been exalting almost at all lately.
  10. Is there any lore around exalting in your clan? If so, what is it? Is it different from official site lore?
Not really. In my head it's just dragons going off to look for the Windsinger (and I think I maybe mention it somewhere), but it's not a huge deal. All of my dragons' hatchlings are technically canon, so they all exist off somewhere doing whatever it is dragons exalted to Wind Dominance do. Make tornadoes or whatever. But I don't mention it often if ever.

1.breed.
2.i usually take the ‘odd ones out’ of the nests that I don’t like and wait for them to grow up, then train and exalt. Occasionally I breed a junk nest for the sole purpose of fodder, but not very often.
3. I don’t buy.
4. I don’t buy
5. Normally I train in ghostlight, mire, and kelpbeds. Occasionally ill train in gollum’s workshop if I want a challenge.
6. Music. I don’t have any playlists, but I’ll just listen to anime music.
7. I usually train them to at least level 7. The highest I’ve trained a fodder dragon was lv. 19 before exalting. But normally I’ll just train to anywhere between 7 and 10. Sometimes higher
8. Lair space. Since I’ve started the game, I’ve run low on lairspace because I always breed too many dragons. So I figured I’ll save space and money if I just train fodder.
9. I usually exalt at random. Weather they’ve been leveled or not. Normally I’ll spend 1-2 days leveling a dragon, then exalting them. Though it varies from time to time.

1. Both.

2. I don't have fodder breeders per se, but if my AH dragons haven't sold within a month, I'll level them up. Color/gene combos that are particularly not great will get leveled up sooner.

3. Both. Low price point for adults (6k and less) and low price/high day count for hatchlings. If there's no conquest push coming up, I'll just grab the super cheap hatchlings and put them in my den so I have a nice cheap adult reserve for when we do have a conquest push and the fodder on the AH has gotten too pricey.

4. Unless I snipe an adult for under 4k, I'll avoid the dragons under 25 energy.

5. I have multiple venues and multiple trainers to keep things interesting. At the moment I mostly train single fodder in the Kelp Beds since it's the fastest/least aggravating for me.

6. I listen to long youtube videos of Lets Plays. Sometimes music.

7. Level 7 unless we're conquest pushing and are flipping the board, then I'll go for level 5 or 6.

8. I joined when Lighting was at the end of a Dom fight. I was able to exalt 2 hatchlings to the cause. lol So I read their Dom FAQ and started figuring out the coli. Back in those days, we were leveling to 10 before exalting. Glad we don't have to do that anymore.

9. I exalt during our pushes so the amount varies. If I'm really low on space, I'll exalt whatever dragon is on the bonus list.

10. My lair is pretty skimpy on lore.

1. Buy or breed fodder? Or do you prefer a mix of both?
sometimes i buy when i feel like i'll be up to coling a lot, more often my fodder comes from breeding project rejects. i have 40 so i usually have hatchlings that grow up each day

2. If you breed your own, do you have specific breeding pairs, or do you just throw whoever on a nest? Is there any aesthetic choice when picking a breeding pair, or do you just go for the lowest cooldowns?
just whatever breeding project reject grew up that day. the only exception is when i don't have one to sit on a nest and i don't get a ping from my nesting network...then i'll buy two rtb adults and stick them on a nest. this doesn't happen often though

3. If you buy, do you get hatchlings or adults? Why?
4-5 day old hatchlings. slightly better margins, i don't mind sticking them in my den bc i have a lot of space, and sometimes they give me an exalt bonus the next day

4. If you buy fodder, what's your opinion on low-energy dragons? Are you okay with burning the food if they're cheap enough? How low is "too low"?
they'd have to be very cheap, and eat insects. if they're above coli range then it's ok.

5. Where do you train, and who's your trainer? Do you have multiple venues you train in, or do you stick to just one? How fast/slow do you find it?
mire and arielle

6. What do you do while leveling? Podcasts, TV, music, etc...?
tv/streaming

7. What level do you train dragons to before sending them off?
usually 5, 6 or 7 during exp bonus holidays

8. When did you start exalting? Was there something that made you start? Have your habits changed since then?
pretty shortly after i joined? so over two years ago. i wanted to make money because i had big goals

9. How many dragons do you exalt per day? Does it change a lot or do you try to stay consistent?
2-10, no very consistent

10. Is there any lore around exalting in your clan? If so, what is it? Is it different from official site lore?
all the dragons i throw to the gods don't really exist in my lore, or if they're the relatives of my permas, then they're either dead, actually exalted, or living in another clan.
my lore around exalting itself isn't too different from the site. it's being called upon to serve the gods. i don't deal with it too often though, in part because i'm still working out things
