because why not. here's mine:
-they walk and run just like chickens, and make similar " bwoooaaaa" noises constantly when they're in a good mood. they don't make clucking sounds, though.
-they also tilt their heads like chickens to look at things, but don't have to. it's more of a habit thing than necessity
-the babies chirp at all times regardless of hunger or warmth. they are only silent when sleeping or eating
-as hatchlings, they like to spar by headbutting eachother. as they grow, their play-fighting style gradually becomes more based around using teeth and claws.
-adolescent banescales like to practice flying by attempting to swoop down on their friends and tussle with them in the air
-they have no table manners. the moment the food is set on the ground, it's swarmed by banescales. the strongest and smartest get the best chunks of meat, but it isn't uncommon for them to willingly share with their less fortunate friends.

If they don't actually wanna fight each other, they do that thing where they just chest bump and flap their wings as they try to push each other over.
Porcupine spines actually let them loose when threatened. Protect your eyes.

- two disgruntled banescales will often fight in the air similar to birds of prey where they attempt to grasp at eachothers talons and swing eachother around, I imagine since they fight more often than not physically than with magic they're more proficient and adept at aerial fighting, so taking out the talons essentially cripples their chances of winning.
- the wraith gene can be a manifestation of a lot of things really, excess magic, smoke, wind, shade possession and maybe even water!
- banescales that exhibit the fan gene have an easier time understanding and learning the ways of fae communication, and often they will take it upon themselves to be an interpretor in lairs where fae and other species coexist.
@
Pantheons going off your last headcannon, I like the idea they're ravenous, but I also like the idea that mothers who are current sitting on large clutches are extra extra ravenous, like, no one, not even the biggest brutish banescale, is gonna mess with an angry momma banescale on a mission.

-spook them and they scatter like chickens
-they always sound like they're singing (angry roars is opera sounds)

- Banescales purr when they are pleased/happy with something, especially as hatchlings
-Injured wing is the biggest damage one can inflict to a banescale, for obvious reasons. Banescales who study healing have specialized spells just for fixing wings to a flying condition, and are vital part of all clans
-Banescales and Gaolers are still not in best terms, although this depends how connected banes and gaolers are to the rest of their respective kind: ones who are separated from their societies tend to actually get along great
-Similarly to coatls, and probably because it came from coatls, banescales dislike individuals who have pale coloring or dull scales, but they don't chase them away or consider them ill. Instead, they have harder time finding a mate

- Banescales with feathers are very frequently preening themselves. They may sometimes attempt to preen skydancers and coatls without warning.
- On the ground, Banescales use their horns and spines as their main means of defense. They may charge and try to lock their horns with other horned dragons, kind of like deer.
- They are also agile on the ground and are great runners(the encyclopedia says they have buff legs).
- They are great singers, which also makes them awesome bards.
- Perhaps because of how they hatched, they love taking lava baths. When no lava is nearby, a hot spring will do.
They like wearing Hawaiian shirts and shorts. They do not care what you think. They do not care if you think they look weird.

-they use song to cast spells, instead of hands or channeling through a staff or something (because... "look! no hands, mum!")
-before the gaolers' massive storm spell, banescales all grew up together as a community (because of the communal nursery)
- ^^^ the change for modern banes may be due to certain lingering fears of putting all the eggs together...

--Banescales get along great with Wildclaws. Wildclaws love to teach the Banes particularly deadly ways of fighting with their feet, and the particularly adept at metalworking have crafted metal claws for their two-legged friends. Banescales, however, do not get along too well with Faes. Being hyper and battle-oriented, as well as particularly ravenous beasts, they only regard Faes as quick meals. It's not like a Fae could entertain them for long anyways.
--Banescales choose leaders based off of battle expirience and how tough they look, and choose mates based off of color when a partner that's good at battling is out of the question. Banes have taken on the Wildclaw's way of establishing dominance; battles to the death.
--Abandoned Banescale eggs are almost immediately taken in by another Banescale, no exceptions
--Like the Coatls, the Banescales also have a prejudice against lighter-colored brethren. Pale Banes are typically thought to be less adept at Fire magic, and one in a clutch is seen as an omen of bad luck. Sometimes, the parents of said omen are cast away in an attempt to protect the rest of the eggs.
--Banescales are excellent singers. They also enjoy playing the harp, violin, and flute. Rowdy war songs that are meant to be belted out as long as possible often take place before battle, but never in front of the hatchlings.

Banescales are very noisy dragons to have in a clan. They talk really loudly, make lots of cheerful squawking and whistling noises when thinking/socializing/working/anything else, and tend to make an enormous racket of rattling spines and rustling scales whenever they move. Worst of all, they will break into song about absolutely anything at all, at any time, including when you sent your Bane clanmate to prepare the morning meal while everyone else is still asleep. Some dragons (mostly Wind) find this endearing. Others, well, don't.
Dragons who have seen a Banescale fight, however, tell a different story. A Banescale's spines stiffen when preparing to hunt or fight, allowing them to move like smoke and attack without warning.
