TOPIC | Starving Dragons on AH -?
1 2
Why are so many dragons on the AH starving?

None of the ones I was looking up were fodder (which I understand), but instead all were highly priced, in the several hundred gem range.

And yet over half of them were starved.

Do people actually buy starving dragons? Won't a starving dragon lower it's buying potential?

I saw a dragon that looked interesting, but as it was starving I didn't want to chance it - I don't have a large lair.

Does anyone know why this happens?

Food isn't that expensive, I don't think it's that big of a factor in buying, especially if the dragon is expensive anyway.

Lots of people strategically feed their dragons; they only convert what food is cheapest/most abundant, and if a dragon doesn't eat that, they don't eat. It's annoying to see starving fodder, but honestly I have enough food points that a starving non-fodder dragon doesn't really bother me.

I coli a lot so feeding them isn't an issue. I have... a massive surplus of food lol

My concern is my bonus!! I fear one 0 energy dragon will ruin it, and tank my bonus!

If it's a fodder dragon, yes, it's likely to get ignored. People usually buy fodder in larger quantities which means that if you buy too many starving fodder, it can mess up your well fed bonus. Also, there's plenty of other fodder, so they are easier to avoid.

If the dragon is one you're looking at to keep, then not usually. It's only the one dragon and if you are looking for a particular color or gene combo, you're not going to care about whether it's fed or not.

@Raspybone Hmm, I suppose if you don't have many dragons that might be a risk, though I don't know when bonus is calculated so it might not matter at all:) It'd take quite a few starving dragons to put a dent in mine :D

Yeah, I only have 13 active dragons (the rest are awaiting yeeting) so I think it might tank me under 80% :c

I wish there was a way to know if it would push me under! Something like a warning before you hit "OK" on buying maybe? Or perhaps a grace period where energy is calculated at roll over?

I messed up my streak early on when I was in the Coli and dying a lot as a noob, I only had 5 dragons, and when all three passed out a few times my bonus died with them lol

Hm, that's certainly a risk. You have room, so if you really want that one dragon you could buy up 5-10 cheap but fed fodder dragons, buy and feed the one you want, and then either resell the filler dragons for what you bought them for or train and exalt them yourself?

That could be a good alternative! I didn't really think of that!

I'm still deciding if I want this dragon (plague primal with nice colors I could easily breedchange) at the price it is, but honestly this is good advice for the future too, thank you!

Assuming all of your dragons are at 100%, one energy-zero dragon will take you below 80% if you have 4 or fewer dragons.

Anyway, a lot of the really expensive dragons on the AH are listed by sellers with a lair full of g1s that they list for high prices, but they themselves aren't very active (and those dragons sell veeeery slowly), so it's not uncommon that they'll be starved.

Starved fodder is the worst, though. e_e
