TOPIC | Nocturne gen1 prices vs eggs?
Like the title says. This is my first night of nocturne. Why do the hatchlings only go for normal price while the eggs go for over 200000 treasure?

Because the eggs have a chance to be anything - primal eyed, double/triples, good XYZ color combos, etc. while the hatchlings, as soon as they're hatched, aren't special unless they're one of the aforementioned 'rare' rolls out of the eggs. G1s are a dime a dozen because so many people hatch eggs and get unappealing dragons out of them. Hatching eggs is a gamble that a lot of users enjoy because of the prestige of having a "special" G1.

did Atropos even know you had a name?
or when she'd cut the line, that it would leave half my tale untold?

how could you leave half a tale untold?
First of all, most nocturne hatchlings aren't gen ones (hatched from eggs, so they don't have parents). Gen one (G1) dragons of any type are generally more valuable than other dragons because people collect them and put genes on them. Non G1 nocturnes are no more valuable than any other dragon.

Also, many gen ones have very ugly colors because they're random, so they go for low (fodder level, even) prices anyways. People like hatching eggs because they might get a really great dragon, but most of the time they don't and so even the G1 nocturne hatchlings have way lower prices than the eggs.

Hope this helped, let me know if you'd like more explanation of anything!

@Salthien @MoonyToons so it's because people like to gamble? Fun ^^" Guess I'll be stockpiling the eggs I find and selling them. I don't care too much about gen ones.

Yep! It's why NotN tends to be lucrative if you don't care about Nocturnes or unhatched eggs. People will pay a mint for the eggs/scrolls since this is the only time of year you can get them. Good luck on making that mad dragon cash.

Eggs are rare and have a TINY chance of popping out something beautiful... it's a gamble!

Ugly G1s are wildly common and on par with fodder, especially at this time of year. For every "nice" hatch, there's dozens (or more) horribly clashing, unsalvageable hatches that just end up exalted.

I love G1s and I'm a pretty avid collector, but I don't ever hatch eggs myself! The gamble just isn't worth it to me and I'm much happier selling the eggs to fund projects.

my little feral ape brain sees an egg and hatches it. the feeling of hatching something cool doesn't get old, and i like being forced to work with otherwise awkward colour combos. it's not nearly as entertaining if you're not the one who made that awful, colourful abomination

While we're on the topic, when is the best time to sell Nocturne eggs? Do prices go up a couple of months after the event has ended, or do prices pretty much stay constant?
