You know the ones. Genes that most people love, but you simply can't stand. Or maybe genes that not a lot of people like and you don't either. What are they for you and why don't you like them?
For me it's Lionfish, Leopard and Clouded.
I have yet to see a single Lionfish dragon or scry that I actually like, it's just way too cluttered for me. It's like the Crackle of primary genes for me, and even then I have seen more Crackle dergs I legitimately like than dragons with Lionfish. Noxtide is fine, but Lionfish is just.. no.
As for Leopard/Clouded, they just don't work for me. Something about the pattern just makes me mildly uncomfortable, and I don't know what. I have seen some pretty dragons with the genes before but it's just not for me.

Jaguar & Rosetta, but that's because the genes make me dizzy and gives me nausea.
I love leopard & clouded though because they don't make me react the same way :'D

Starmap
I don't hate it or necessarily even dislike it, but I find it harder to work with and I only would want it on a specific dragon, like one that's actually themed around it. It's not a go-to gene for me, unlike Constellation, which I find do works on a lot of dragons. Starmap just seems too busy to have on the dragon's body in most cases.

I'll make a nice signature eventually :(

I quite agree with this one. I would have Constellation all day as you can pair it with less busy things, but Starmap? I would far prefer to have Metallic as a neutral base, especially if I want to put accents on the dragon.
Petals and Wasp also fit into that category for me, I have one dragon with Buttefly, and a number with Bee ... but I don't have one dragon with those Primaries.
[s]Jaguar I love even though it's busy, since if I'm using it, they are going to be a more 'natural' type of dragon rather than 'slap a pile of gold on them' dragon. XD[/s]

Lionfish, Noxtide, Petals, Starmap, Constellation, pretty much any belly gene.

Iridescent and shimmer always seemed like the overdone gene. Like, if you want to have dragons that you can sell, but you like them with solid plain colors, it's either you leave them as basic and you wind up with a dragon that no one seems to want, or you pay a ton of gems (which I never have) for the most expensive genes and apply it to the dragon only to find out that it doesn't look right with the added colors (same applies to fade and blend, but it's just cheaper).
I know I'm guilty of having a few iri/shimmer dragons, and it really does work when you get a dragon with colors that actually work. However, when you're trying to go with simple designs and you don't want to wind up with something that's just flat out basic, it can get really annoying because of colors that you don't want clashing against the other colors.
Example
I have this scry for a character project I want to work on.

I want him to be fully gened as well as be the right colors, so I have to resort to iri/shimmer to get the super smooth and solid color, but then this weird blue colors shows up around his rear and an ugly sand color shows on his wings.
"Just go fade/blend!"

No. And this is a problem with many dragons I have. And metallic/alloy is no better, but my main gripe is with iri/shim and fade/blend. [s]Just look at my Imperials. A lot of them have basic because they don't look how they're supposed to without it.[/s]
Sorry if I ranted too much, but I really needed to get that off my chest.

Capsule, I suppose it goes with Plague dragons, but I can't imagine a dragon with transparent bits.

Even though I still have IriShim dragons because I used to love them, I really dislike it now and won't buy any new ones. I also dislike Metallic, Alloy, Crystal, Facet, Starmap and Constellation... basically all shiny gem genes.
I prefer treasure genes nowadays. I'm still working on getting rid of Iridescent and/or Shimmer on most of my dragons.
