TOPIC | Would you buy lore?

I enjoy writing up lore for my dragons and decorating it nicely. And I was wondering if people buy that kind of stuff, and how much they charge in general for it. Here's an example of one of my dragons- (This template I customized included with all the lore)

I've seen lore shops in either creative corner or art sales can't remember which at the moment. However they're definitely are out there!

I'd check lore shops in the Art Sales forum. I don't have one myself, so I'm not sure how much they charge on average :0

I've spent quite a bit on lore, yes. I generally use it as a supplement, though, as I code and write my own bios. Poems, specific events, interactions with other clans, essentially flavor text. I don't know the market, though. It's been over two years since I commissioned any lore. I do know most people vastly undersell so don't expect it to be a moneymaker if you want to be competitive or people to actually purchase some.

People devalue skilled writing even more than they devalue art, which is saying something. Even artists. Or maybe especially artists lol.

Your best bet is doing research and then pricing based on that.

I hire writers when I can afford it. I usually pay 100 treasure a word. Half up front, rest when it's done.

I see a lot of lore shops and I always read their examples and think the way they put things into words can be absolutely beautiful and inspiring.

However, I don't think I'd trust someone enough to make them put the ideas for my own lore into words. I prefer writing it myself :)
I knew it was low, but I didn't think it was that low. The most unskilled writer should at least get a penny a word, and that's not counting template coding. I wouldn't charge less than 1g:1000t a word at minimum. (I'm not saying you're unskilled, I'm saying from your sample it's definitely worth more than 100t a word) Tell you what; you decide to set up a shop, you ping me and I'll commission you.

@retrodetective at a 1000 treasure a word, a 500 word bio would cost 500,000 ... that's alot! 50,000 is more doable. .And prolly yield more customers

Shrug maybe Im just a cheapskate :P

I like your writing, and you could certainly set up a lore shop - from what I've seen, there aren't many, at least compared to art shops, but that just means more customers!

People certainly buy lore - I've only had my shop up for a trial run of ~2 weeks, and I've had 4 customers!

There's a lot of different prices and ways to price lore, so it'll take some research to find what and how you want to price. Personally, I charge by the paragraph, but others price by type of lore or by word count

If they are willing to work with my own lore as it is, or off of an idea, then I probably would. I've never really done so yet, but there are occasionally dragons I don't really know what to do with that I think about it.

Something like the setup you have up there I would probably toss at least 500g at, but I don't know the general running prices.
