Which do you prefer and why?

I like both a lot for different reasons.

Discord is better for sharing information and generally getting to know people, but servers tend to be very close knit so I find it hard to get comfortable in them :'') Taking commissions is also waaaaay easier over discord

Forums are pretty low stress and easier for me to pop in with my own contribution to conversations, but interactions are pretty brief so its much rarer for me to actually become close friends with anyone

Forums. I don't really like having to go somewhere else to talk if I'm already here.

[/quote] Pretty much this, and the fact that I had more than enough chat rooms back in my AOL days. Let me make a post and get back to it, nothing about this site is so important that I need to respond to someone instantaneously about it. A slower pace also fits the fact that I work most the week. Also the fact that this is the official place to speak and is subject to the sites moderation so people have to follow those rules.

Forums because I’m old school and don’t like having to go to some secondary location to talk about a thing when that thing already has dedicated areas for it on site. Also severe social anxiety makes direct communication like the likes of fast moving chat rooms very difficult. I much prefer shouting into the void.


(I also don’t know how to use discord, have never used discord, and have no current use for discord.)

Forums. Never been to discord

Forums for FR, and I say that as someone who constantly has discord open on my pc/phone.

My biggest problem with discord for FR is
1) I'm older & this site skews young, so I don't relate to alot of the casual talk (school/parent complaints, etc)

2) People always split off and make a new discord server for x and y and z & I hate having narrow-use servers clutter up my sidebar. Having things for 'gen1s' and 'lore' etc is what channels are for, not entirely new servers all with 15 people each.
