TOPIC | I wanna purge dragons.
1 2
I've grown increasingly bored with this game, and it's most likely due to dragons that I can't handle but I can't make myself get rid of.
I also don't really know of what to purge and I could use someone on the outside looking in of what to sell off.

Not to mention if someone could give some aesthetic advice too, that would be magificent.

I hope I don't sound rude, but please don't give the Marie Kondo advice, it doesn't seem to work for me. Nor does the "put everything into the den and forget about it and see what happens" thing either.

Decide at the beginning how many dragons you want to keep and how many you want to get rid of. Then make a list of your favorite to least favorite dragons, and get rid of the bottom [whatever number] dragons on your list. If you have the heart XD

I've made a tab in my main lair that has all the dragons I'm keeping and then have been culling dragons I'm only keeping because I've had them so long, or that I don't want anymore, or whatever, from there. So you could try that?
well to help with that, i'm going to need to know what YOU are looking for in dergs, (is lore important to you or do you just want pretty dergs to look at?what theme do you enjoy?ect....) Like, you lair seems pretty good right now to me, it is giving me a strong eldritch horrors/angels and demons/fancy royalty court vibes, but maybe that not what your are looking for, maybe you would prefer a aquatic monstrous "dragon" court rather then a light philosopher fancy dragon court. Or maybe you are like me before my lair reorganization who did not know what i wanted/did not have any specific goal in mind and as a result, was super unsastified with my lair. for that, what i did was: having a short break from fr, letting my mind wonder a bit to pin down what theme i enjoy (like fandragons, outcast, realism,mercenaries for hire, super advance technology, pratical outfits, etc..) and only then tried to see how i could make dragons fits those theme and who could stay, who needed a make over and who needed to go, even if i liked them. Also a thing which work pretty good for me was looking at other peoples lair and trying to understand what maked me liked things more than other and what i absolutely want in my lair. ex: having an interactive story involving all my derg would be nice but its way too much work and not that high in my pryority list, so i decide to not do it and to focus on dressing my dragon to reflect their job and personalities(if they have one) instead. and if pretty gen1 wildclaw with max out apparel slots is your thing your lucky because there is a lot of those out there, maybe they could help you coming up with inspiration for your own lair.

Some ideas:

1. Stop buying or hatching new dragons for a period of time. Yes, that dragon might be gorgeous, but there will be more gorgeous dragons hatched in the future.

2. Is it your sales tab that's stressing you out? If so then maybe decide if having them out of your lair is more important than making money.

3. Pick a single dragon at a time to dress. Maybe it'll be one a day, or one a week, but only concentrate at one at a time.

4. Pick a single gene project to work on at a time too. Also maybe ask yourself if it's the actual dragon that you like, or the concept of having it finished and in your lair. I find sometimes that I think I like a dragon, but really I only want to look at it for a little while. If that happens I save a picture of it and then move on.

To be honest, I don't really know what I want. Colorwise, I usually stick to greyscale, deep and dark reds, and maybe some more pale greens (like spruce and pistachio to name the main ones). I don't really do lore as I don't have ideas nor the time to actually write it. And for dressing them, I just find what looks good? Not much to go on, but unfortunately that's all I've got. ; v;

@xiq
It's nice to know that I'm not the only one who feels like this. Welcome to the darkness, friend.

@BlueJaysFeather
Once I find a few that I know I can part with, I may try this idea. Thank you!

Remember that you can basically re-create (non gen 1) dragons later on rather easily with FR cash or with time, if you end up regretting anything. So don't worry to much about it.
Colors, breed, genes and genders can always be redone. So don't worry about it too much unless just looking at the dragon makes you happy enough you want to keep it.
Is there like personal attachment? Was there a story behind the dragon like a gift from a friend or a personal achievement or something? Was it a special day like halloween of XXXX year or something that makes it extra important to you?

Is there anything at all that stands out from this dragon that makes it different from you regeneing/breed change/breeding project the exact same style dragon?
If no, then don't worry to much about exalting/purging it. You can always get a new one if it reallllly bugs you. But will cost money or just time

If your unsure about what you want, maybe go looking at peoples lairs still you find a style/styles that you find cool or inspire you?

You can probably go make a den tab for possible purge dragons in your hibernation den so you can get a feel of what your lair looks like without them, and that can help you experiment with what kind of lair you can make and what might make you happy? (though I think there a time limit on how fast you can move between hibernation den and normal one, so maybe make a possible purge tab and then do some when you feel more sure and then you got a few days till you can pull them out of hibernation to see if you think it feels right)

Also lets you do it incrementally. "I think I do literally NOTHING with this one dragon. Time to go shove you in the closest. Yea, I have removed the dragon and it looks the exact same to me, purging you go"

Honestly? In the end a no mercy purge worked for me. Any dragons that I didn't have immediate sentimental attachment to were sold/exalted quite fast. I regretted some of my choices for maybe a week afterwards before moving on. In my experience, it's not as bad as you think to yeet a few dragons to make way for change in your lair.

You could just get rid of everything in one fell swoop. Save images, hold your breath, and punch that exalt button on every. last. dragon.

My only other tip would be to give yourself a few minutes and write down the dragons you remember well from your lineup that you like. The ones you forgot get sold/exalted. Of course, it doesn't work well if you have a fantastic memory, but if you're like me you'd end up forgetting over half of them.
