i wanna stay up for marva so to pass the time...
So, to start, what colors do you wish were more common/ less expensive?
honestly? no preferences. i'm a g1 collector and i'll take what i get. i like to play with rng.
Does eye type/color matter to you? And if so why?
yes. obviously you can't always be too picky when you don't accept anything other than g1s and really sentimental dragons into your lair, but come on. if i had a double, say, azure/azure/cyan with plague primal, i would either sell or temper, the latter probably annoying people if i told them.
also, if i choose to keep a dragon with special eyes, i have to choose a pose that it works on. male multigaze? no tundra. tundra male multigaze shows the extra eyes in one place, and that's the butt. primal eyes? hatchling.
i mean, clashing eyes can be fixed with apparel--bad terts can be fixed with apparel. but i like matchy eyes.
Does a dragon absolutely HAVE to have a Tertiary gene for you?
yes. once again i talk about being a g1 collector. for some, that basic is a blessing for bad-tert-g1s. for me, it means the g1 isn't special enough to keep if only two of its colors work. i always try to find a way to get a tert gene.
Do you collect G1s?
yes c;
If so, what genes do you use the most?
i find myself liking skink, noxtide, alloy, jaguar, stained, capsule, and pinstripe. they're my go-to scries that i check first, usually.
Do you buy dragons with a specific design you have planned or design around the dragon?
design around the dragon. again, with g1s, it's all about rng, and you can't be too picky. you can also create some really great dragons that usually people won't think of.
What makes you typically avoid certain dragons?
too bright. too plain (XXX). triple gem gene is the only scry that works. on various occasions, i'll go triple gem gene, but i try to put a baldwin/treasure gene somewhere to make it less glittery everywhere (capsule is AMAZING. almost all my projects have it. jaguar is the BEST
primary GENE. i would say the best but... stained... capsule)
Does all the dragons colors have to match or do you prefer contrasting ones?
matchy!! contrasting colors are ew, bright, get out. my eyes prefer softer, toned-down, monochrome colors like browns, green stained red, etc.
if it's a XXY white or obs, then, i don't care. my dream is a (g1, obviously) XXY white or obs. any tert would work (okay, not every one, but most... some...) with apparel. i just have to hope for ice or matching eyes, but if not, daredevil covers exist.
Do you prefer mixed (Jag/Saf, Slime/Bee, etc.) genes rather than matched? (Genes that go together like Met/Al, Wasp/Bee, Iri/Shim, etc.)
yep! i'll use nonmatching genes because they look better, more variety, i don't know. the only dragon afaik that i keep with both prim/sec gene pairs is
illumina, a sentimental non-g1 dragon.
Is basic unappealing to you?
nope!! again, my dream is a XXY g1 white or obs. i'd have basic/basic/some tert gene like glimmer, it's such a beautiful blank slate. works wonders with busy umas.
Do you try to buy within a certain theme?
...i
try
but seriously, i am trying now. i want less variety but i don't want to become one of those massive g1 lairs with every dragon literally the same in my eyes. it's impressive, but they're not unique anymore. i don't know. my "theme", i guess, is less bright colors. more toned down browns and greys and greens stained red. but really as long as it's not orchid/fuchsia/radioactive i'm ok
Do you buy from hatcheries?
no. they breed g2+ dragons. also, most are XXX or doubles or bright colors. too perfect for me. one of the things il ike about g1s is their variety, their imperfection. the randomness.
What's the most appealing/unappealing things about them?
^
What's the most T/G you're willing to spend on a dragon?
all the money in the world... that i can have. currently i'm sitting on about 5.5kg, which is not a lot tbh
Does hatch date matter to you?
nope! maybe one day i'll need one for something really sentimental,
really sentimental. but for me it's just an interesting added bonus.
Does ID matter to you?
for some, yes. for me, not really. of course milestones and sold strings are cool and all, but i'm not a special ID collector. if i, by some miracle, hatched one of those big special IDs (60mil, for example), i would probably sell... they go for a lot. but i don't know. if it were g1, i'd have to think twice.
Does lineage matter?
no. pure g2 imps? those are neat though. ignis/naomi/other descendants? not really. i get why they're cool but i just can't care enough.
also, i don't ever keep bred dragons (sentimental exceptions).
Do you actively search for a dragon with a special date/ID/lineage or is it a nice bonus?
nice bonus!
Is there any breed you exclusively avoid?
... snapper m
inhales but also--
ridgeback m, guardian m, tundra m, fae f, mirror m, noc m, bog m, spiral f, banescale f, banescale m, gaoler m, gaoler f
all ancients because i don't like how they can't wear apparel (i see why and it makes sense, i'm jst the kind of person that loads 2384792 tons of apparel on) but permababies might make an exception (gaoler babies ;o;) and possibly new ancients if they're good enough.
i would go on a rant about breeds but i'm a little lazy for that.
here's some. think i cut out a lot from that post before i posted it, so. -shrugs-
Are you a mono lair? Have you considered it? And if you did become a mono lair, what breed would you choose?
no, no, wildclaws. i have thought about it before but i can't handle that. diversity is something i live for in my pixel dragons
