It would probably be the hoods/cowls being updated to match the mantles - the mantles are newer, and it's all the old stuff getting revamped. Besides, the mantles tend to look nicer anyway

I believe it was said that these two items, despite their specific names, are not part of a set. This is why their colors aren't the same, and why they do not clip in together. They are in fact two completely separate items that are not intended to be used together.
