we hatch eggs because we believe that we can hatch a double/primal/etc. that's not really the case however
the reason why people really hatch eggs is from past experiences. consider if you hatched a forest/sapphire/slate g1 when you hatched an egg. are you more likely to hatch another egg after that experiences? probably not. now, if you hatched a forest/forest/slate g1, you might be more likely to hatch another egg. why is that? you realize that you are capable of hatching rare color combinations from eggs.
it's the feeling that if you can hatch a decently colored dragon, then you think that you can do that again. but if you hatched a color vomit dragon, then you might not hatch an egg at that moment because you didn't hatch anything you considered special at all yet. if you hatched a primal 5 months ago you are permanently doomed to forever hatch eggs
in conclusion "we hatch good from egg at one point, we shall hatch more egg for more good"
