At any given moment there were dragons going this way and that, puffs of smoke in varying colours emitting from different places, loud bangs, pops and whistles from every corner. There were still dragons going every which way, accompanied by bangs and crashes, but the puffs of smoke were mostly absent. Today they were replaced by puffs of dust that billowed from doorways and windows. A new noise was added to the din at varying intervals. "ACHOO!" A Skydancer called Bree quickly patted out the fire from the sneeze and gazed mournfully at the half burnt remains of a beautiful map she had unfurled. She glared at her colleague. "Sowweh!" came the mangled apology from Rontal the Wildclaw as he dabbed at his nose with a somewhat dirty handkerchief. His eyes were puffy, his nose was runny and the poor fellow looked several different shades of miserable. Bree just sighed and, for the fiftieth time, wondered what bright dragon thought it would be a good idea to have a dragon allergic to dust helping to clear out one of the archive rooms. Once a year, every year, the Observatory would undergo a thorough spring cleaning and everything would be emptied from rooms, cleaned and returned or thrown out. The archives had to be checked before anything was thrown away though as there were many important things preserved on scrolls or stone tablets. She threw the damaged map in the rubbish pile and reached for another scroll. "I hate spring cleaning," Rontal muttered, glancing at a stone tablet before wiping it with a cloth and returning it to its place. "You're not the only one," Bree said as she unfurled the scroll. "...why do we need a recipe for nuclear cookies?" "No one has thrown it out before so it must be useful. Maybe the Arcanist likes them?" said Rontal, lazily wiping another stone tablet. Only the author ever found the recipe useful, but scores of dragons through the years had all thought it must be important if it was kept around. It was one lucky scroll, even if no one ever tried the recipe. "Hmm," Bree hummed noncommittally. She grabbed another scroll and was about to unfurl it when something small and dark leapt from the shelves towards her face. She shrieked, arms, wings and tail flailing. After a few frantic seconds she stopped and looked around, following Rontal's gaze to something on the floor. A small, fuzzy sphere was rolling around. It had two tiny glittering eyes and was making angry squeaky growl-like noises. Suddenly Bree and Rontal were surrounded. More fuzzy spheres rolled out from between shelves, behind bookcases and ornaments. There was hardly a speck of floor to be seen anymore. They all began to squeak-growl in tune - the effect sounding something like a high-pitched war chant. Bree and Rontal took one look at each other before pouncing for the door. They fled the room, the spheres rolling after them and spurring them on. "DUST BUNNIES!" they both cried.
