do you dabble in buying imperials? what's your criteria when buying bred ones? been thinking about having some but i just don't know how to justify not having only g1 dragons. i feel like the imps i buy need to be ~special~ in some way to keep them around...not sure if maybe i should go for pure g2 ones or somethin'
so i just want to hear how y'all manage to go about it??

nope! all of my dragons are pure gen1s, all unbred, you name it.
although i did once had a purebred gen2 imp, he was a double and i loved him very much, but i just was so unsettled with the idea of having a nongen1.

Don’t have any imperials in my lair, and have zero interest in gen2s (cause they still have parents? I might as well just buy a regular fodder imperial) but I’m thinking about getting some female imperials, just cause they’re so gorgeous. I can overlook them not being gen1 dragons because they’re so beautiful I think it cancels out

I had some pure g2 imps that I actually scattered regret and kept for a while, but eventually decided to sell them because (similar to what antiques said) the fact that they were not g1 was bugging me :(
I wish that it didn't bother me because imperials are so fun to dress up, but I think I've been g1 only for so long that it just felt weird?
That said, if you are interested in having some - go for it! There are lots of ways you could work them into g1 only lair/lore if you wanted :D

I have one, I keep him around because he has a special ID (6 digit palindrome). It's definitely frustrating not being able to have many imps because of the g1 restriction, but I don't actually mind too much because they aren't a breed I care for much.
But yeah, I have one and it feels wrong. Oh well.

Yep! I'm a (mostly) G1 lair with the exception of imperials. I love them to death, but since I will absolutely never be able to get a G1 imp, I have decided that imps can be my non-G1 exception. I used to go with just pure G2 as it did make the imps feel more special, but at the end of the day, they're still just a non-G1 imp that cost a heck of a lot more so I expanded to G2+ and never looked back. I've never really regretted it, and if I did, I didn't spend much on them in the first place so I could very easily boot them without feeling like a whole bunch of cash went down the drain.
Long story short, I recommend it! Imps are a lovely addition to every lair, and I love mine to death. <3

G1 imps are definitely out of my price range at the moment, and g2+ imps dont interest me at all. I do collect oldies g2+ though, purely because of their IDs and the fact that they have a history which justifies (to me at least) their place in my lair. I try to stick to g1 oldies though. So if you want a gen2 imp i'd say go for it, its your lair! I still consider myself a g1 lair even though I rescue and rehome oldies.

I had this, not for Imperials but Obsidian XXYs are my 'non-G1 exception'. I made a highly specific collection just to try it out and I've not got rid of them yet XD In fact I had so much fun on the project that I won't even be annoyed at myself if I do end up unable to keep them. It's scratched the itch and outside of my fodder mill I no longer experience any kind of regret about not keeping any other non-G1s.

I had some.
They're all gone now.
I'd love to buy a pure g2 imp though.

I keep G2s in my lair until I'm able to completely fill it with G1s. The only bred G1 I own was bought on accident :(
