I think that Pinkerton, Crim, SPT (Swipp, Pipp, and Tripp), Tomo, and Scribbles would look good with genes. (yes, i know a few have underbelly, but not obvious enough to me *cough*)
What do you think?

c: Maybe they're happy with the way they look now. There's nothing wrong with basic genes.

basic is valid, they said. and i am here for it :D
but it's probably because they're easier to draw without genes? that's my only guess ^^;

Pinkerton, Crim, SPT (Swipp, Pipp, and Tripp), Tomo, Scribbles and Baldwin were the original 6 NPCs and you can see that in the art in the BG of the trading post!! It used to be intractable where you could click on the cauldron in the art in the BG rather than Baldwin's rounded rectangle button for example before Roundsey, Galore and Fiona were added :D
Save for Baldwin, they haven't had any gene changes perhaps because FR's team was planning to have all of them geneless/only have underbelly sometimes but with the expansion of NPCs they might have decided to use some of the genes in the art to spice things up but don't want to change the genes of the already established NPCs? :)

OG Trading Post types aren't interested in following fad genetics.
Or don't want to waste money, I can see that too.
... I'm going to say Crim has all the genes, probably multiple, but they all go in the pile. No using, only collecting.

They're all G1s who were born to be merchants and spend their free half hour a night sleeping, so they don't have time for scrying and buying genes.

Who can take tomorrow, dip it in a dream, separate the sorrow and collect up all the cream?
The candyman can 'cause he mixes it with love and makes the world taste good.
I do wonder if there was an expectation in the very early days of the game when they were created that more players consider a dragon with basic genes 'finished', and therefore that the NPCs would be normal like that.
I wonder how basic compares to other genes if you were somehow able to do the numbers exclusively on dragons whose owners consider them finished.

Honestly, I can't really imagine them with any other genes

Swipp used to have a gene actually, his primary was tiger I guess, as he has a striped back
