i've seen lairs practically filled to the brim with fandragons and i wanna know yall's process,,
do you scry them first and then breed for them? or do you buy a random dragon off the AH and make it work? or something in between?
asking cause so far i've been scrying them first and it takes SO LONG to find the dragon or a dragon close enough unless it also happens to be a relatively popular color combo ;-;
also for familiars, do you pick one that matches color-wise or story-wise?

If you want a really good fandragon you have to go through the breeding project. You can make things work with a rando off the AH, but it's not the same as something specifically tailored to the character.

Depends on the character. Video game, anime, and OC fandragons tend to be very specific because they have a much more exact color scheme that I want to follow, and I'll try to breed for them. Other fandragons, usually ones from books, I typically have a range that I can go for. Like, primary should be pink, secondary should be red, tert should be white, but the exact color can vary.

I scry them first but then I try and breed for them. I also go through an plan outfits for them. Mostly it's just finding the right parents and breeding for them. I'm working on making some for Fruits Basket right now in fact.

I decide the breed based on personality or appearance, and then make the scry and outfit. I only have one, and I managed to get decent colors just off the AH. I got lucky and dodged the breeding project.

I do a mix occasionally, but most of the time I scry, then breed for them! It mostly depends on how rare the color combos I have in mind are, or if I want something in particular. Usually I'll likely end up spending to change genes, but I always prioritize colors first!
If a character doesn't quite have a definite look, I may be more lenient and search for a looser color range.
Sometimes I strike lucky and find dragons with the right colors in the Auction House too! "
Tad Strange" is a recent case of the latter, but the colors are surprisingly spot-on for the work!

i just scry first but never really care how accurate the dragon actually is to the scry. i just wanna make sure they work well with the outfit! will change some genes etc if needed but overall im pretty lax on how it looks like
