You go into the coli to train and beat the beetles out of some animal or beast and they’re like

“The dragons are too strong. We’ll never hold out against the dragonkind’s best warriors. Might as well stick around and become domesticated”

Where else can you beat up a mermaid or harpy and earn their loyalty? Do beasts admire creatures stronger than them?
What are your thoughts

I'm just stealing their babies and throwing them in the cauldron as soon as they start loving me...

I think the canon lore explanation was that the vast majority of the critters you encounter are Shade-touched, so they just disappear. Killing their evil clones wins the respect of the real critters, so they follow you home.
