Flight Rising Discussion

I was wondering this, because I'm getting itchy feet again, and I was thinking of moving flights again.

I started out in Plague, and I like it for the aesthetic, but I'm more dom focused, so I went to Earth. Earth has a nice dom scene, and the people are very kind but I'm wanting a flight with more activity and for lorea (since I've finished expanding my lair and my HiDen, the flight's leader wants to make a sort of "homecoming" now that he's grown up)

I guess I want to know:

• How often does Light compete for dom? Are there frequent IF competitions?
• What are the people like? What does the age demographic seem to be? I'm 27 and I don't really want to be in a flight that skews towards a younger age group. Earth seems to have an older demographic that I liked quite a lot.
• Is there a lot of activity in Light's forums? How about their Discord? (I assume they have one? It'd be a shame if they didn't)

ooh, i’m glad you’re considering us :D

light places on the dom board quite frequently (we like to compete against earth sometimes, just for fun) and our bigger pushes are super fun! we are a very dom-heavy group but we’re sending levels to other flights just as often as we are exalting for lightmom, not necessarily competing every other week.

from the discord, i gather we’ve got a healthy age range. some are younger, but i was pleasantly surprised to see the amount of fellow 20-30 year olds, and some even older.

light forums can be a bit stagnant. there are a couple forum games circulating and the monthly/bimonthly glurry of push activity, but for the most part everything happens on discord. light’s discord is super active and friendly to newcomers, so i don’t mind the lack of forum activity. (we also have a slack, apparently? i don’t use slack)

i find it to be a very active, organized, focused flight compared to where i started out (arcane). coming off hiatus was painless with the acolytes to remind me how coli worked :”D

Most of our interactions are definitely in the discord. It's super friendly and welcoming, plus the conversations are hilarious. Our Dom channel in the discord is pretty active (coming from the self proclaimed resident STONKS goblin xD)

Our flight overall is pretty great. We do like to try and go for top three on the Dom board pretty regularly, whether with an official push or just some bored and dedicated members taking the initiative themselves xD. We also have tons of super helpful guides for just about anything.

As others have said, we're a super warm and welcoming community, but most of the activity is found in the discord! The discord is super active, there's usually people on at all times, though we tend to be more active around EST, as far as I can tell?

Also, we're pretty decently aged over on the discord, I think? Most of the very active people on the discord are college aged or in their upper teens. I don't think we have very many younger people on the discord. I think the whole knowledge and greek/roman based aesthetics pull in a more mature audience, at least it seems that way to me.

We're more focused on individual profit than overall flight profit, but we do push pretty frequently! Less conquests, more profit pushes basically. Most people in light get their wealth from exalting dragons, so that's the reason we place a lot. We've been 2nd for a few weeks now, and the discord has been really tying to push to keep it that way!

I’ve really enjoyed the community so far and it seems that a fair amount of the people on the Discord are adults. I think the aesthetic of our flight really helps to attract an “older” crowd compared to other flights.
