So I try cruising the RP forums and. There’s uh, not many that are even FR related. So many RPs that are completely unrelated to FR I wonder if it shouldn’t have its own forum? And have an FR specific RP forum? I’d love to have some options of FR related RPs but. The entire forum is dominated by threads relating too; Gravity falls, fnaf, untitled 1x1, and other random movie/tv show related RPs. So, generally not even about FR content.

Let’s be clear I’m not bashing, or trying to be negative about them existing. I’m just lamenting there doesn’t seem to be a dragon specific place on a dragon pet site ya know?

There’s an FR discussion forum and there’s an off site topic discussion forum. It doesn’t feel too far a stretch for there to be similar RP distinctions? For organizations sake?

Anyone else vibe with this? Anyone have any particular points maybe arguing against the idea?(I dunno I can’t think of a negative aspect of the idea myself but, maybe someone out there does?)

@NightShift
Never thought about that before! I give you my support. Though, in the future, if you have an idea, you should put it in the suggestions forum.

(she/her) i'll code this sometime
@Clarybun

I was hoping more so to see if anyone else had any thoughts on the concept, hadn’t even thought of posting over in suggestions. Which isn’t a bad idea at all actually.

When I joined in 2014, there were a lot more FR related RPs, but these days, it seems more fandom oriented. I'm not sure when this shift started or why, but it might just be that there are fewer FR-lore oriented people around than there used to be, just because there's not as much activity as before, like when there were gods just responding to random forums every now and then, when now they are basically on the back burner, or when the Beastclans were a new thing and there were mysterious scraps everywhere. Just the fact that lore is less interactive now means people use RPing for different fandoms that they may be active members in.

Maybe it would bother me if it was more essential/ something FR focuses on. Splitting it would feel similar to splitting the Art Sales or Creative Corner into FR/Non-FR sections rather than the general discussion threads.

@floatinginspace

Back then I wasn’t as interested in the RP aspect of things, but it’s nice to hear your perspective and insight In that timeframe! The idea that the site lore shifting to being less interactive And having an effect on the RP landscape is very interesting.

I don't think there's enough roleplays to warrant splitting up the forum. If you check the forum regularly, you'll notice that there's always a few dominating the first page at a time, it's not like there's a ton of active roleplays but the FR ones in particular get buried. Plus, if you're looking for roleplays, it's easier to just have one thread that could show you're open to both FR ones and unrelated ones, rather than two separate threads on two separate forums. And maybe you'd want a grey area, roleplaying as a fandragon or something.

Also, fact of the matter is... There's not many "dedicated" roleplays like you might see on other sites. I think alot of roleplay on FR is character-based, not setting-based or plot-based (except in 1x1 RPs, but those are more directly collaborative; generally alot of people don't want to be a "GM/DM," and/or are too young/inexperienced to manage a plot-driven roleplay), so there's not necessarily a specific appeal in an FR setting unless you want to use your dragon. But, if you just want to make a new character, or use an existing one, there's no real reason to link it to FR as opposed to any other setting. Since there's no motive in these roleplays to create a character which would fit in an FR-based plot, people just go with whatever they're most comfortable with or interested in at the time. Hence alot of roleplays that die quickly due to lack of interest, boredom, or suddenly being directionless.

TLDR; I don't think there's enough FR roleplays or dedicated roleplays out there to warrant an entirely new thread for it.

Yeah I noticed this a while back when I considered finally getting into FR RP. Not only that, but the lack of casual RPs really deterred me away real quick.

I've considered making my own casual RP thread, but it would be a pain to manage when I already have another thread (in Dragon Share) I'm really dedicated to.
