You cannot opt out of the following or proceed to play as normal. You must choose 1 category of the hoard. You can only receive items of this category from this day forth. Items of other categories simply won't drop to you anywhere on site (i.e. you won't be able to accept a trade with those, get them randomly from gathering/Coli, buy the item category during Festivals - nothing. It will never end up in your hoard). This does not change rarities or drop odds - even if you are supposed to get it from Pinkerton, he'll just give you nothing. That's it.
Easy mode: you can still accept trades from other players and buy from the Auction House.
Medium mode: you can still accept trades from other players, but AH will only sell you items of your category of choice.
Hard mode: nothing. zero. nada. you're not playing easy m'dude.
