So I had a little thought. When you switch flights, you get a message "(deity) has accepted your new allegiance and welcomes you into their domain."
If a deity can accept your allegiance, can they also decline it? They just look at you with your packed backs and troupe of dragons and decide, "No. Your vibes suck. Get out."
I mean this lore-wise. I understand in terms of mechanics, flight switches are always accepted.
