TOPIC | Do Faes practice emotions?

So in the encyclopedia it says:
Fae dragons are social creatures within their own species. When interacting with other breeds they frequently have difficulty understanding emotion, as the lack of an expressive crest cripples the Fae's ability to read the other dragon's intent. Equally, other species have difficulty reading the Fae; the tiny dragons maintain a monotone when speaking and do not exhibit common body language.
But Swipp's fam are very expressive with their poses, example here: So do they practice emotions for others dragons to communicate better?

So do they practice emotions for others dragons to communicate better?
plot twist: they're bogsneaks in disguise

I heard that the devs wanted to make them more cartoonish, but I like to think they learn after interacting with other breeds after years

Swipp's family interact with other dragons a lot so they're probably better at showing emotions than most faes.

Or maybe it's just for our benefit. Three dragons showing absolutely no emotion might look a little weird so maybe their expressions are translations of what their crests would be showing :D

I mean, look at the fae emojis [emoji=fae deadpan size=2][emoji=fae happy size=2][emoji=fae laughing size=2] I agree with everyone in the thread that they might have just learnt how to express themself better. Or the artist forgot about that when they'd drawn Swipp and his family.

It's just drawn that way so players can understand the image better than them just having their crests in different positions.

I thought faes didn't express emotions through facial expressions, yet Swipp and his two daughters are doing just that in the new art. Do faes teach themselves facial expressions in order to communicate with other dragons?

Fae do speak in a monotone voice and convey their emotions through elaborate crest gestures; the artwork is intentionally exaggerated for the player's benefit and to make the characters' personalities more relatable. Pipp is very excited, and Tripp is not!

Like others said, I'm pretty sure they're drawn that way for the player's benefit. I do like the idea that they've learned to express emotions more as a result of interacting with tons of dragons on a daily basis.

I don't know where the idea that Fae don't use facial expression since they don't use tone came from; it's not as if our ability to use tone precludes our using our eyebrows. I don't see that Fae can't use facial expressions in the encyclopedia... just that they use expressive crests. Body language isn't all inborn, a lot of it's cultural, and I have serious doubts that Fae don't have the muscles required to make facial expressions. So Faes in multi-species lairs probably use facial expressions just fine. Though I don't know if they have the ability to change their spoken tone.

I kinda wish they were drawn with only crest movement, because I always like that about the fae. I too speak monotone mostly and dont usually make expressions, not by choice but thats just how my mind works. But it makes sense that they could have learned how to do them from their many trades.
