So like with the male Ridgebacks does it hurt to hit their nose? Cause its all like bones and i mean some animals with horns don’t have any feeling on them so like...

Do they fight each other by using their snoots as swords? That’d be super cool yet super hilarious at the same time..

Is it possible to break their nose? Do they bleed? Do they bruise?
Are their nostrils really long?

Why do they have buckteeth?

Also how do they even get their food if they’re afraid of water? Do they task others to do it? Does someone pull the short straw and have to get it? Do they go to the local fishmarkets? Does stormcatcher get it for them? Are they paid in fish???

Does the fish have to be dry before they eat it? Do they worship towels because they take away the bad liquid?

Do they get dehydrated?

Why do they have spikes? Do they roll like sonic into their opponents? Will that be implemented as a move in the dragon vs dragon mode in the coliseum? God i hope so

Wait does a longer nose mean a more attractive dragon? Why do they even have them? Do they steal from bossdad?

My head hurts.

Edit: wait does their snoot also get itchy??

[item=Fenfisher Flattail] they do in fact, get others to do the fishing for them, and sometimes do a trawling net situation [item=Fisher's Companion] this thread did make me come to the horrific realization that stormcatcher may have designed them with the ability to only eat fish and an aversion of water to prevent them from slacking off. corporate culture is saying you starve if you dont prioritize the company edit: the question of the horn is odd, because it seems to seamlessly attach to the rest of the integument on the head (ie its primary color is uniform on all parts of the head). that means a nice coat of both flesh and scales grows in over the horn, and also grows with it for their life. sounds...uncomfortable to say the least either that or a ridgebacks primary is actually just raw flesh with no scales

To add to this pile of questions, the encyclopedia states that their horn “continues to grow throughout the dragon's life.” Does that mean that there are 200 year old Ridgebacks with an absolute unit of a snooter? How long can the horn grow up to be? 3 feet? 15 feet? Can you imagine an old grandpa Ridgeback who constantly bumps his nose on everything? How does he open the fridge?

Important questions, man

Well as far as their snoots are concerned the encyclopedia calls them horns, which would mean that at least on the outside they're probably made of keratin, like hair. So I imagine it probably doesn't hurt them to joust or fence or whatever with them, unless they have a significant core of bone in there somewhere. They seem to be like rhino horns though, so I'm betting not.

I'm sure if they rammed something head-on with them though it would probably hurt just by virtue of that being like jamming a stick into your face.

Alright, I'm gonna try to answer most of these: I imagine that, since they're tunnelers, Ridgebacks use their horn to help them tunnel. I assume it does not hurt to tunnel with it. That would also explain why it grows continuously. I assume that it can be broken but I don't think it would bleed. It's probably like rhino horn (or our nails) where it's not living tissue with nerves. You can see their nostrils, they aren't on the horn itself and don't seem like they'd be any longer than any other breed's nostrils. I imagine Ridgebacks do the same. I wouldn't assume that they'd be averse to liquid foods necessarily, it's probably the idea of submersion that freaks them out. Idk though, maybe some Ridgebacks only eat dehydrated food. They are from the desert, so I assume that they have some way to cope with dehydration. That's another reason for them to not be averse to the water content of their food. The encyclopedia says that their attack strategy is essentially barreling into their opponents, so yeah I guess they're kinda like Sonic lol. Don't know about the long nose meaning anything, once again I assume it's to help them tunnel. No, I don't think they borrow from the Stormcatcher lol. If they do, I assume it ends poorly for them. The world map states that Lightning dragons are ambitious and focused on changing the world around them, what better way to encourage that then have an inhospitable environment? Ridgies wouldn't get very far without each other and without a drive to innovate!

I think Ridgeback noses, if they aren't stiff, bony protrusions, would be like leafnose snakes, where they're actually very bendable and flexible and not liable to suffer injury as a result.
