I dunno if there's already a thread for this, so Imma make one anyway. What is the hardest breeding project you have ever done, and what made it so hard?

Heyo! I used to be FlameNinja, but something happened to that account, but I'm back now!
Probably for
Augur. I think I've been trying for the color/sex combo for nearly a year. There were just not very many available with close range, with both the secondary and tertiaries. I had gotten the right combo of colors a couple of times but the various pairs also just refused to give me a female up to not that long ago.
Which could have been solved by the new scroll if it had come out before now.

This. It's still ongoing but the hardest part is probably going to be getting those two missing eye types lol.

I spent at least two years trying to breed for
her.

I think probably this guy,

I want to say it took close to a year, and it was so frustrating that I don't think I've done a breeding project since (and he was born in 2016, lolol)
Problem 1 was that while its not a particularly rare combo, there weren't many imps available in the color range, then problem 2 being that every dragon I bred was like 1-2 colors off. Once I had the colors really dialed in, I had maybe about 10 very closely related pairs trying for it, and the last 3 months it was always wrong gender or wrong breed (lots of nocs involved) It was a glorious day when he finally arrived [emoji=guardian tongue size=1]

I'm still working on it.
First, I need a pair that can reliably produce Vermilion/Lemon or Grapefruit/Radioactive (or maybe Leaf). Then, I need them to produce a primal. Thank god we have the pose change scroll, or I'd have to play hard mode and ensure the dragon produced was also male.
The color combination isn't popular, so I have to breed for the parents.

Three years. From when Opal was released in 2017, to just a couple months ago this year.
There just weren't any dragons remotely in the range of Stone/Maize/Algae at the time, so I basically had to breed down from several sets of great-grandparents to narrow down the colour ranges, and since it was an Imperial breeding project, not only were the cooldowns excruciatingly long, but I could only use Nocturne scrolls for mates since finding unrelated Imperials for the project was next to impossible. I had to borrow dragons from other people for several phases of the project. And then, when I finally had a pair with a >50% chance of producing the right hatchling, they only gave me males and 1-offs for 7 months.
Fun times. [emoji=sword size=1][emoji=sword size=1][emoji=sword size=1]

I've only ever done two breeding projects before, one of which is ongoing. I'm attempting to breed a perfect clone of my clan leader, but he's an imp, which makes things significantly more difficult than my previous project...

The problem wasn't finding the right colors, even though they're pretty rare and any hatchlings still only have a 50% chance of getting the right colors.. It's that I have to rent Lightning nests and hope to get Faceted eyes.
