And I don't know about you but I've always pictured the whale familiars as big. The design makes me think of blue whales so I'm thinking on that scale, the length of an imperial, ten times the weight of a guardian.
And I'm imaging these tiny little faes trying to round up and heard 500 aquatic megafauna behind their tiny booth in the trading post and it's just delightful to me.

I like the pokeball idea..but it's just a transparent globe so you can see them in their own little pocket dimension swimming around before you buy them
