Festivals used to start as soon as rollover finished. I can't accurately remember why they were changed, but a friend has told me that it was due to Undel's back surgery or something. But I am not stating that as fact.
That was so long ago. I miss the ritual of waiting for rollover to end to clamber away at the festival once it was live. It was like new years, counting down for something special every month.
I'm already a night owl, so right now I'm doing something similar, but I can't help but wonder why this hasn't been changed yet. Does it need to continue to start so late? Can it go back to how it was before?

I think it was just because staff realized it's better if they weren't super tired / asleep when festivals happened. I miss staying up for them as well but it does make sense. The staff will make less mistakes in the morning than at midnight.

Yeah, I think it makes more sense for them to start at a time that isn't the middle of the night. It's nice for me too, because it means that I'm always awake for the start of the fest.

It's more reasonable for them for it to be at this hour rather than at midnight. Let people actually get some sleep before having to get to their job.

look at it this way: we effectively get another day of gathering for fests. i'm a night owl as well, but i think it's a worthy tradeoff

I think staff said most of them are actually 3 hours or so ahead of server time? So midnight server time is 3am their time, which was very late for them to have to stay up to manually start each festival. Having festivals start at 6am server time means it’s 9am for staff, so they’re not losing sleep starting festivals.
Maybe one day they’ll be able to code festivals to start automatically at a certain time, and then they’ll start at rollover again?

I don't think that would happen, since they probably also want to be there just in case something goes wrong. I remember some skin issues with the last festival launch.

Oh yeah, that’s a good point. I remember some skin issues back when Brightshine started in June, too.

I think the change happened cuz Undel had some nasty injury and she was the main one who got fests rolling at FR midnight
Then they tried an automated start but it went really badly so they switched to manual at a time admin would be on to make sure any shenanigans Lameforger could be quickly fixed
