The veilspun dragons have changed a bit since their first reveal in March. I made a gif that compares them.

I remember watching the stream and loving the idea of little faerie dragons. The movement sketches at the bottom always reminded me of like...the fan lizards from avatar.
Hopefully it'll help people see them as smaller.

@Shian I've seen that style of restoration called "shrinkwrap".

Honestly I'm a little disappointed that we didn't get the big fairy wings of the original concept art, if only because they didn't push the bug inspiration very hard in the end. It looks like they decided to pivot from what you'd expect from a more typical fairy dragon to mirroring IRL bug anatomy... and then did nothing else with that beyond changing the wing anatomy. I also think that wing change ended up hurting the overall look of the F pose, which is still posed in a way meant to show off big outstretched wings... wings that are now much, much smaller and flattened tight against the body. I think the F pose could've used reworking at that point in the concepting stage; imo the M pose is much better looking in comparison because it was clearly drawn after this decision was made and takes it into account.
Don't take this as me saying it's a horrible breed or anything, it's a perfectly fine addition to the site and it has a built in kelpie mane which is cool... it's just that the final version ended up not really being my cup of tea. I personally have been really, really hoping for an ancient that truly gets wild with breaking the modern breed design standards, and it felt like 'bug fairy' was the perfect candidate for multiple limbs, multiple eyes like mirrors have, etc.
edit; i got pinged back here like 5 days after i last posted, so instead of bumping the thread i’ll just add here that i’ve warmed up to them after finding that a dragon i was lukewarm about is saved by being a veilspun. after scrying a lot of my dragons i found that my personal opinion about them is that they either look terrible or absolutely stunning, lol. crossing my fingers that the next ancient goes ham and has multiple heads and arms.

i just gotta say that i just realized that the whiskers, like, didn't change at all throughout the whole process and i just kinda applaud that

Spy Yeah, same. This was the perfect occasion to break out really weird tertiary genes, and... They didn't.
I think the female pose is pretty weak and I wish it was scrapped and reworked earlier. The male pose is terrific, makes great use of the 350 x 350 dimensions.
