I've seen a lot of people compare veilspun to pearlcatchers or imps, but to be honest, I think the only thing they have in common is long bodies/necks and whiskers.
Using Veilspun vs Pearlcatchers, since that's what this thread is about:
Most of the traits that they do have in common, like horns and manes, are common to many dragon breeds, and I'd argue that Pearlcatchers look about as much like Skydancers or Fae as they do like Veilspun.
(No shade on my end either, I've just been thinking about breed anatomy lately and wanted to share my observations.)
That said, that Pearlcatcher scry is a pretty good approximation of the veilspun. The unicorn mane looks great with those colors!
Using Veilspun vs Pearlcatchers, since that's what this thread is about:
- Veilspun have considerably longer necks and tails, and slim torsos, while Pearlcatchers have much more pronounced barrel chests.
- The wings are completely different: besides the obvious difference in material, veilspun wings only attach in one place, while Pearlcatcher wings continue all the way down the base of the tail.
- The limbs are different. Pearlcatcher limbs are fairly thick and rounded in shape, while Veilspun limbs are skinny, with pointed joints and large claws.
- The heads are different. Pearlcatcher heads are much blunter, and have horns that sprout near the eyes, while Veilspun have cheek spines and horns that sprout near the ears.

I can see the imperial resemblance, but for the life of me I can't see how pearlcatchers and veilspuns look similar at all bahaha

@Silver202 Thanks! Yeah, I agree about the differences, but I think there's an in lore reason for the resemblances that go beyond just coincidences.
