The most common argument you hear is "well, it can look good in some places, but it only looks good on certain dragons. You fool. You absolute buffoon. You complete and utter rodeo clown. Do you not realize that EVERY tert in this game (except underbelly, love you boo) is circumstantial? We should normalize leaving the tert gene blank unless it's underbelly or specifically tailored to that dragon. Example? My pleasure. Perfectly good XXY baby, nice colors, blank tert: [img]https://i.ibb.co/JyzJ5rW/dragon.png[/img] And then some stinky adds opal JUST so that their dragon has no basic genes. [img]https://i.ibb.co/F3mM4GP/dragon-1.png[/img] Gross. Disgusting. Absolutely unacceptable. But look how nice he looks with smirch: [img]https://i.ibb.co/WDbxq6n/dragon-2.png[/img] On top of this, smirch is so cheap. It's less than 10g on the AH. If you're going to complain about smirch looking bad on your dragon, that dragon better have a nice, matchy tert color. Because if the tert color doesn't match, no wonder smirch looks bad, ya stinky! (this was a joke post, I'm just annoyed that everyone seems to think that smirch is the worst tert in the game and judges it just because it's cheap. You're entitled to your own opinion, but maybe you could consider seeing how some of your basic tert dragons look with it?)

I kinda like that everyone hates Smirch. Smirch looks really good on blue dragons, I find. Makes them watery.

phthalo bee is the best color/gene combo in the whole game and the smirch makes it even better

Smirch can also be useful in breeding projects, if you're trying to preserve a common or uncommon tert on the other parent.

I like smirch! You can use it to represent blood or shadow goop. And what more do you need in a lair like mine?

Non matchy smirch can also be great! It adds a fun pop and some pretty good flavour. i feel like it just gets a lot of hate because people think its crackle 2.0 but its not as intense or "all over" as crackle. [size=1] Kind of wish we got this for the new veilspuns instead of crackle[/size] Its the best goop gene for shadowbinder dragons. But its up there on my list of weirdly disliked by the majority genes with spines.
